The 1982 Kenmore 4.1. Flagship of the fleet in my house right now. 4.1 horse motor (would be interested to know the airflow and sealed suction of that motor, no little sticker to tell me like the Avocado Bomber has, anyone know?). This one has the infinitely variable speed motor and is switched ON/OFF at the hose, allowing the Powermate to be used as a floor brush without agitation. This replaced the Avocado Bomber in our house when it's Powermate died and my folks retired the Avocado Bomber to garage duty (eventually disappearing under all of my dad's clutter until he passed away and I was cleaning out the old homestead to sell).

This one is a working vacuum, no closet queens here. All I have ever done to it is clean it thoroughly, replace bags and, more recently, replaced the badly dried out and flaking secondary filter with some bulk filter material from Electrolux. Same stuff on the exhaust side. Modern filtration, gasp, on a three decade old vacuum. Is that permitted?

The Hayden is a recent addition when I decided to put the Avocado Bomber back into use. Since it's quieter than the original Powermate that came with the 4.1 (even with a new motor) I figured my fiancée would appreciate having it to use. I'll put this team up against any modern canister vacuum and power brush combination sold today. Any takers :o

And in a little bit of news, I just bought a Tool Garden for the wood grained 1980 3.9 sister to this vacuum I showed you on my first posting of Kenmore Porn. Same guy who sold me the vacuum dug it out and sold it to me. I bought a couple of used but less worn out tools for it while at a cool little mom and pop vacuum store in Lancaster CA, so now they have a good home. You know that 3.9 is the exception to the rule in that where we have a whole thread elsewhere in Vacuumland about how sellers don't even wipe the dust off what they sell and ship a full bag to boot. I bought the 3.9 for parts. It didn't look nice in the photos, but when I opened the box the vacuum was squeaky clean inside and out, and runs like a champ. It received the Avocado Bombers hose when it's lid hinge gave out and it is a darn nice vacuum. If you look closely you can see someone touched up the letting on the lid by hand.
