Forgive me, I am not familiar with those Electrolux models, but what year is it from, do you know?

The Discovery II is from 1986-87 and is the first of this style of upright.

I'm not a fan of uprights but the Aerus/Electrolux I would own without any thought.  My grandma had one like that and it was a great vacuum.

RainbowD4C,

I hear you. I'm not an upright fan, but I do have 2 Aerus/Electrolux examples and I even use one of them regularly.

Some people are completely clueless with what they have & that's where we all come in & swoop at the chance to get it before they get smart or someone tells them what they have.

If you go to your local Aerus dealer, the hose & tool kit from the current Aerus commercial upright will fit & work with your Discovery.

There are many accessory kits for sale on eBay for this, and all Lux uprights except the 4000 and 6000. Many are BIN for ~$50. Buying from Aerus will cost a great deal more, but they will be new.

"take apart a Discovery?"

The branches were furnished an extra long screwdriver that would go from the 4 screws under the bag with the handle above the bag chamber.Similar can be found at Snap-On or better tool stores. As with many jobs the right tool is a must.On the base you remove the 4 (or later 5) screws and then insert a flat screwdriver in rectangular holes at rear edges to 'unlock'tabs holding rear of cover.
