I talked to a friend who sells Rainbows yesterday, saw him today and got a box of Renovating Utensils for Rexair Conditioner & Humidifier. The box had a cloth hose, the curved wand, the sprayer, the packing slip and the Guaranty card (listing the address as the Ficher Building, Detroit, Michigan) (I'm thinking early '40s).

Anyway the hose is still soft and flexable. I checked it with my Aerus Classic, it still holds suction and doesn't leak.

Why is it that a 70 year old hose is still good and the cloth hose on my Olympia Electrolux leaked years ago?

I guess they don't make things like they use to

The Olympia hose

As well as any of the Electrolux hoses that carried current were never very good, truly the weak link, the older ones like 30-60-E-F-and G held up fairly well.
