I have a blue Hoover electric broom that I've had for a while I found at the thrift store. It's in really nice shape cosmetically, but it seems to have a few problems mechanically. It seems there is a lot of dust in the motor housing and it is very noisy. I assume these were relatively noisy but I don't know if it is normal for them to be dusty inside. I can't get the motor out very far because of the short wires. I have not really used it at all and don't have any bags for it.

Also what year is it from? It's a model S2015. A floor only machine, no handle to use as hand vac.

In case you still have it ...

Its design was initially named "Handi-Vac" from 1966 until 1974. As far as I know each model made during that time allowed the user to use it with a handle or a shoulder strap. In 1974 Hoover chose to separate the two functions into the "Quik-Broom" vac for floors and the "Handi-Vac" for above the floor cleaning.

Your S2015 was produced from 1975 until 1987. Its Stellar Blue & Oyster White color scheme matched other cleaners in its early years including the Convertibles U4005 and U4027.

The photo below of the S2015 and the U4005 was posted on thread 11676 by vacman117:

Paul:

Before the Handi-vac which replaced the Pixie, there was the Lark. How interesting the way these models evolved. The Lark came out the same time the Hoover Floor Washer did, and both were in the same blue as shown in the pic above. However, the floor washer was usually in yellow.

That model was my first Handivac purchase

I got it at Vac Way in Scranton, the same day my aunt got here 707 Convertible.

I got the Handivac tools ($10.00) at Zollinger's

Great machine.  And, several of those blue Convertibles have made their way into the house.

 LOVE 'em!

Zollinger's.

That rings a bell.

As you're the expert on this one, wasn't Zollinger's in North Canton, Ohio where Murray J. Spangler worked before inventing The Electric Suction Sweeper?

Check the book Fabulous Dustpan.

If my memory is right, then Zollinger's had a store in the Fowler building in what is now North Canton.
