So - I go every Sunday to a local flea market to wander (and have the best double bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich around ! )…
So as I am wandering, I see the top handle of an Oreck Standing up in a trash bag at one of the vendors -
I question the person selling it, and he said his mother passed away, and he did not need it -
When I took off the bag, I was shocked - It was pristine - I assumed he we going to want a fortune for it - $20.00 -
Tell me if you think it was worth it when you see these pictures - Keep in mind, I DID NOT YET CLEAN IT when these were taken - I do not think it was ever used - The bag was empty - There was a spare in the back pocket with the three year service agreement, and the owners manuel in a bag..
I did take the extra belt off of the bottom where it was stored, and took it apart assuming I would have to clean it out - Here is what I found…

I went to the flea market today, Too! didn't see any vacuum deals, though! Did catch one of my favorite Neil Sedaka songs while walking down Row A, though! You got a steal, A while back I saw an older XL Model at the same flea market I went to today.

$375 in filthy, used state. Some people!Wink

This is the spare bag, and the same bag was in the machine - It seems to be some type of cloth bag - since they are sealed, I know it is not a reusable bag…

The one inside was completely empty - And there was no dust in the tube, or inside the dock where the bag connects… Guess I cut that one open for nothing -
I did tear it all down to get to the fan, and it had not dirt in it either -

I wonder if it was cleaned by the Oreck People as part of the service plan - There is a sticker on the black handle from an order center in MA…

How old is it anyway ? Here is the serial number label -
Now I just have to see if someone wants it !!! I could not pass up something that looks new for $20.00 - Clearly it had to be a lot more then that when it was new…
Dan

Oreck Dating,

If I remember the date-decoding correctly, your model was made the 156th day of 2007. Those are the newer Carbon HEPA bags.

That has had little to no use judging from the pics. It could've been used in a clean household and been serviced yearly. I work part-time for Oreck and did at the time that model was being sold. If I remember correctly, that model was one up from the entry level stick handled model which was phased out later. I believe at that time, the uprights were still sold as a package with the hand held canister, and a free cordless iron or another gift. Retail on this would've been $399.99 for the package. 5yr. warranty overall, 10yr. on the housing, and would've come with 3yrs. worth of annual tune-ups. The tune-up sheet in the back pocket should've been signed off on if the store serviced it regularly. Our store would sell this now for $125.00 as a used vacuum with a 6mo. limited warranty. Pre-owned Orecks are all over ebay and craigslist, and people don't seem to want to pay much for them. We do well with them in the store due to Oreck owners wanting an extra vac for themselves, or college kid, etc. They don't mind the price. If you want to re-sell it, I'd try asking friends, co-workers, relatives, etc. That will be a nice vacuum for someone who would appreciate an Oreck. The hepa bags are now white, and an improvement over the original gray ones, and do a great job of filtering. The bags sell for $34.99 for a pack of 8. The hypo-allergenic paper bags are $24.99 for a pack of 8, so rather a small difference for the better bag. Just make sure when you reassembled the handle tube, that the collars are tight. Many people complain they leak dust, only to find the collars are loose. I never use the belts off the bottom plate, especially when a few years old, as they tend to dry out over time. Hope this helps!

Thank you all for your info… I had no idea it was from 2007…. They could not have used it at all… It must have been another case of someone being talked into something they did not need - Or maybe an impulse purchase they never used…

Right now, no one I check with wanted it (and I was giving it away for free) so I am just going to hang onto it and box it up for now…

It will be ready when one of my co-workers or relatives says they need a vacuum…
I still have a Lux Guardian Ultra in the box as well… It to will sit until it is needed…

Again - Thanks for all the info…
Dan

PS - I am off this morning for breakfast, and to see what other little treasures I can find...
