I went to an estate sale this weekend and picked up a couple of Hoover uprights. The first one is this model 300. It is in pretty rough shape.

Close up of the 300. As you can see, the paint is peeling off. Does anyone know what color it is called?

Here is the Hoover model 61. This works, needs a new belt. As you can tell the bag is not original.

Two bags that came with the machines. The one on the left was on the Hoover 300. Not sure if it is original or not. That one is in really rough shape. The other one is a bit better, but not much.

Also at the estate sale was what appeared to be a vacuum cleaner motor. It is the type that would go on top, kind of like the Hoover 300. It wasn't as rounded, and it had two small lights on it. Kind of like two little headlights. Does anyone have any idea of what type of machine it would have gone for? I didn't get it, they wanted $35 for it. I should have gone back the last day and just offered them anything for it, but I didn't.

And great hints of some washer porn there as well :)

Neither bag is original, and i think that the 300 may have been a re-built (by Hoover) version.

Could the motor you saw have been like this Kenmore (acknowledgement to Electrolux 137 for photo)

That Kenmore is identical to the motor that was there. I guess I should study up on my vacs so when I am at these estate sales, I don't miss out on something important or rare.

Hoover 300--

--the economy model of about 1930 would have had a round green emblem in center of original bag as well as on box of atts.It also had a unique round plug molded on end of original cord. Can't tell if yours still has.The peeling blue paint seems to be a repaint over original black.Blue was a Hoover color on rebuilts(also tan/brown)but might have come from a vac store.--So,when can we expect it to look as good as the other great items in the laundry?

So would it have originally been black? Does anyone have an extra bag for either it or the 61? Also the two bags I do have, what do they go to?
ALso the cord is shot on the 300. Hopefully won't take me too long to get it looking nice.
