Re: Reply 231 (eurekaprince)

Brian,

While I'm not a Eureka enthusiast, I do support your idea of a Eureka-Williams Museum and encourage you to go after your dream. Where there's a will there's a way! You might begin by contacting the city of Bloomington, Illinois and pitching your idea to them to see if they could provide any financial assistance in terms of grant monies, tax increment financing, et cetera. I also wonder if The Eureka Company, its successor, would be willing to be a financial sponsor for such an undertaking?

Regarding Jimmy's machines, you might be able to make a deal with him regarding machine prices and pay installments. That could also include him or ask another vac collector in the Elizabethton area to move and store the items for you to another storage garage. That person or persons could even become business partners with you.

Just some thoughts for you to consider. I do hope you'll try to make your dream become a reality instead of assuming that your lack of current financial resources is too large of a barrier to keep it from happening. In addition, consider the fact that you may not get another opportunity like Jimmy's sale that would allow you to collect so many Eureka machines at one time.

Best regards,

Kevin

Hi Kevin,

Thank you for your kind words of support! I appreciate your sharing that amazing American "can do" spirit with this shy Canadian!

Unfortunately, I am now the sole caregiver of my aging mom and I am in really bad financial shape. But I have always been inspired by dreamers - especially Americans like Walt Disney - and I will for sure keep the dream alive! I am also a great fan of educational exhibits and museums, and so this could be a great hobby to design in my spare time while I make contact with Electrolux and Bloomington officials.

It would be such a shame to let the Eureka vacuum story be forgotten by future generations. "Eureka. The very best in vacuum cleaners."

Thanks so much for these heartwarming words, Kevin. I really appreciate your creative thinking and proposal of great solutions to challenges! It's guys like you and Jimmy who make Vacuumland (like Disneyland) the "happiest place on earth" for cleanerphiles like us.

And to Jimmy: Good luck with your sale of all these goodies!

Eureka (or any other brand) Museum

A quick thought for every ones weekend before I go back to new,old & older vacs. The simple fact is-- on many models and eras I have the museum but not the building to put it in.As I do not have and not likely to have proper museum area most can GO!!To collectors, scrap yard, dumpster, etc.I have made the decision that they WILL GO!YOU as collectors, vac shop owners or even museum curators can help decide if they go to a good home or bad.My value on most is $1--$20.(This would be more for nicer, rarer and more complete examples in some cases.)As to thoughts of a museum setting in many cases I have vac, original hose & atts, proper bag if upright, bag package if canister, many original instruction booklets and even quite a few original boxes especially with Elux & Kirby. Also replacements parts for many.
So--The scrap yard is texting and prices paid seem to be rising. At least 5 scrap haulers are hovering around and 2 of them took a small(Ford Ranger)truck load last week that included AirWay,Elux,Rexair & more.As to the dumpster for plastic body such as Hoover Dimension & Eureka Rally or the scrap yard for cords & metal vacs it will soon come down to -- If YOU don't care,I don't care or give a proverbial **** ***!!!

Jimmy,

I didn't realize that you had machine boxes. I am interested in those for the Model R, Model L (all four), Model G (both).

Thanks for giving us the opportunity to purchase your items rather than just scrapping all of them (which would sure be easier for you). I appreciate the time and effort you have put into this!

"--didn't realise that you had------"

I'm not sure that any of you (or even myself) know what is here!!When I say much unseen that is what I mean. Also vac, hose, att, etc, etc can be stored in different areas and would make a complete museum quality vacuum even if not all seen at once.More later.Back to a Gen Kirby repair.

Jimmy,

If you would be interested in opening another vacuum cleaner museum maybe you could get financial support from the VCCC and Vacuumlanders. As long as you have the artifacts anyway it's worth consideration.

Do you still have the remains of any 1979 Kirby Traditions (specifically those models with the headlight switch)? At least the motor assembly? I hope those will find a buyer in the VCCC/VL communities.

warehouse vacs

F-A-M--Compacts are now mostly in 2 areas. Not sure if there will be extra atts after putting sets with the best vacs.Never have had Turbinette or ABC.
smow69-Many F-G style. The above are possible but always somewhat rare.
kirbyclassicIII-I think I have had 2 motors units and 1 hose and polisher for L Out switch at headlight.Have found 1 motor unit and will be sorting more between Santronic & Heritage after dealing with 505--DS 80.(If no interest from collectors every time I take metal or aluminum items to nearby scrap yard I hear-"Thank you Mr. Martin. Here is your ticket showing pounds of scrap. If you scan it at ATM and push button it will dispence your cash."--Very soon-"If you don't care,I don't care."--Hello dumpster, hello scrap yard!

I made the trip

I went to Elizabethton today to Jimmy's shop. He was very fair and I got tons of Lux and Rainbow stuff. He had pretty much everything that I have been needing for my machines. I got several machines and parts for good deals. Jimmy still has tons left!! I couldn't even tell that I had taken anything!!!! I recommend anyone to make the trip. We had a day with beautiful weather and I couldn't be more pleased.

Hello Lane,Goodbye Vacs

Lane was here ,as above, and filled both an SUV and gaps in his collection(mostly Elux vacs & polishers & Rexair)with a Lewyt and Airway mixed in.Who will be next!?!.

jaker15-Lots of Kirby hoses(but not all at warehouse),should be a Regina left and lots of Elux. With other vacs and usual problems of vac store Elux is hardly touched at this point. Some blue G & a few tan. Many hoses & atts but in different locations. When I am somewhat caught up on other things we will figure a reasonable cost of vacs and full cost of shipping.(Some of this weekend will be spent carefully packing the remainder of 2 orders that are paid and will be going northward.)

Let me know when you get some time. Don't worry about digging out tools for an Elux, all I need is the canister. I have a few combination tools and several sets of wands, as well as more hoses than I know what to do with. The one hose I do not have is the Heritage II. When you get to the Luxes, I'd prefer a blue model G, but a decent tan one would do just as nicely. What style of Regina brooms do you have left? I've seen one or two before with PN's, but I think a straight-suction model would be better. If you get a chance, please email me at jakes5103@gmail.com

Thanks again!

3. 10" floor brush complete, light blue
4. 6" upholstery tool complete, light blue
5. Round dusting brush complete, light blue
6. Crevice tool, light blue

Golden Crown hose--I should have one but with a nice, complete vac that is waiting its turn on EBay.
Blue Eurekas--Almost every stair step going upstairs has a Eureka UR on it.Most blue.Includes private labels, basic models as well as chrome hoods and cord winders.(The blue Eureka bags seem to be the worst for losing teeth on zippers.Could be a problem on some.)

What vacuums and spare attachments you got left? Particularly looking for Lectric-Lux models with power brush, but just let me know if you don't have any Lectric-Luxes I can use other vacuums. Will pay for shipping to Providence Forge, VA and if no objection can pay you thru paypal if you can give me an estimate would be great.

What vacuums---attachments ????

To much to list. But there WILL be LESS & LESS!!As close as I come to a New Year resolution is that they are GOING! daily and steadily to customers, collectors, scrap yard or dumpster.I just sold a collectible GE swivel top cheap to a local customer who loves it.A truck load including brown Filter Queen and MORE went to a local vac guy.10 bagless uprights are out in the rain waiting to be walked to the dumpster.Next group for EBay includes-early Elux UR,Fantom Fury(gold trim),OLD Hamilton beach & Premier, old & modern hand vacs,2 polishers(one a MW).Best way to see and acquire is personal visit(easy 4 lane drive).I rarely have time to spare for packing, shipping. This is done for me on EBay vacs and other items.I have been distracted with out of state death of both parents this year & holidays but will soon make more & more go faster & faster!!Hope to have new pictures as brands become grouped together.(Am finding MANY Compacts! and others.)Call 423-268-4841(before I turn phone off)with any questions.,Jimmy

YES!MANY!!Sorting and scrapping has continued with the latest being a move from my current vac store building to a new location that will continue vacuums and add 1000s of books and a few antiques & some art.Closer to spring there will be a clean out of current long time location as I finish moving.Much more later and separately.

"do you have"?

Elites--Very few as these would sell as good, basic used uprights.I think there are still good cloth bags and handles in attic. Also hoses and converters and a couple of original boxes with color panels.
Concept--Almost nothing but hoses and converters.
Older Eurekas--Yes.20s through 70s.Including blue from 60s and deluxe with chrome and cordwinder from 70s.

alright

Alright, can you possibly get some pictures of any of the 70s Eureka's? I'd love to have an older Eureka of that age.

Jimmy

I can email you privately, but I am currently looking for a hose for this machine. I noticed you had a few of these in orange in some older warehouse pictures, so I figured I would ask. Let me know if you think you might have one of these. Thanks!

I have no money, so I might take any ones that are free. Especially ones that don't run. I love a good project!

Kyle-

I have had 6-8 orange Vikings but only 2 white over the years. Most gone but should still have attachments, etc and maybe this hose.Haven't seen recently but will be sorting though everything soon.
Crazykirbydude-
Only some are free and ONLY if you pick up in person.East TN is an easy drive and nice area if you have family or friends planning a trip or vacation. There will also be MANY hoses, wands, attachments, parts,POWER NOZZLES,bags, some filters and MORE.

GE Roll Easy

Hello, I saw in one of your photos you had a GE Roll easy vacuum. I would like to purchase that, and a few constellations (I have the Orange and yellow), Hoover Suitcase, Electrolux Model AE & Model R. If you have any? I appreciate it! Thank you!

Hans, I agree completely! Hands-down Ridgewood is the absolute BEST BBQ I have eaten EVER! Jimmy treated me to a trip there when I visited him last July and I was absolutely floored at how good the place is! I plan to make a return trip this year (to see Jimmy, AND visit Ridgewood!) and I absolutely CANNOT wait! Both places are well worth the drive!!!

Do I have ?--

vinvac1977-Most Eurekas are still as pictured.Prefer pick up in person but might take to UPS after I get a reasonable price if you will then pay all packing, shipping, etc.Very little for Hoover 27.
reo580-I think FQs are still on shelf but are now behind GE Swivel Tops and MORE.Will be sorting soon.Slight chance of cuffs.
leviwhite1985-Have at least 6 Roll-Easy but extras may not be complete but can use Swivel Top hose/atts.Many Constellation but most extras are yellow-yellow/tan.Have found at least 4 original blue non floating. Many Portable(& Slimline)but now behind older Hoover uprights. Most Portable complete or nearly so.Many Electrolux from XXX and later but few Rs.
Ridgewood-Great & nearby.I don't have to be
asked twice to take any of you there!
Vac store clean out-More later and separately.Pictures soon.

Mark,

I have at least 20 Kirbys before the Omega style. Many boxes, att boxes, hoses, attachments, polishers,HandyButlers, shampooers & more & more, some parts such as rubber trim and a few cloth bags.Only ones that might be new would be Heritage era.Older used bags are probably fair to good.Much is in a box somewhere but will be sorted soon as I continue to move.
Jimmy

Hello,

Would you by chance have any Hoover 105, 700, or 725 parts - rear wheels - bags - brush roll or other misc stuff? Thanks. Todd.

Hoovers

I have LOTS of Convertibles, several of the 63 & 28 styles and then much less of the older models(mostly complete,a few with original bags). But very few parts unless some become parts machines.I have started by moving the Convertibles and then will move older & older models.I will keep several myself.Others available later.

Thanks

electrolux CB2000

Hi Jimmy,
Was wondering if you might have the cloth filter and possibly a motor for the electrolux CB2000 or know where i might be able to get one?

Post# 372963 , Reply# 80   5/31/2017 at 08:29 (2,492 days old) by rugsucker (Elizabethton TN)
CB 2000

The only CB 2000 I have had in recent years was worn and dirty and went to scrapper.I have several metal CBs but not all with cloth filter.I would use the paper filter under the cloth with any of these.I should have some'in a box somewhere.'I do have a rare box a CB 200 was shipped in.The motor should be same as Diamond Jubilee and could be easily changed or repaired with newer genuine repair kit.

Please don't scrap those nice old vacs! Only scrap the new bagless crap. Give the rest to a vac shop, I'm sure they will take it.

"don't scrap -- old vacs"

When will you(& others??)be here to get some?!?!?!
I an moving from one building to another that will mostly be a book store with 600 feet of shelving to stock that is taking most of my time.I have more vacs and parts from 1920s on than you can imagine that WILL GO.
I can walk through town and find 6 scrappers that can be here tomorrow with trucks.
Again, when will you and other collectors come and collect?!?!?!

Sell some on EBay. Don't want to see 20's-80's vacs get ravaged by scrappers.

HOOVERS WANTED!!

Hi Jimmy, A fellow forum member just connected me with your warehouse wonderland. I'm after a few machines (just getting started with the hobby) and am HOPING to find some nice, clean, all original examples.

Hoover 26
Hoover 28
704 Convertible (been searching forever for one, found a few but have all been way too rough)
70 Convertible
Any other Dreyfuss-era models I'm forgetting to mention
Filter Queen 200

The nice examples on my list bring a pretty penny. That's what I'm willing to pay for the right ones.

Can you help with any of these? Thanks!!

Vac Shop cleanout

"cannot get to TN"--The last time I checked I-81 goes at least as far as Penn and our new president has announced no plans for a wall at the Mason-Dixon line.
"Sell some on EBay."--I sold many vacs and parts as well as a few other items with a long time EBay seller with a high satisfaction rating for the last couple of years. She was an older lady who became ill and died.I now have little time to find, check and describe items. If you or anyone want to come set up an EBay department let me know!!.There are 100s if not 1000s of items here!
