.
. What's the name of the black vacuum cleaner bag fabric that was used in early Hoovers (after the sateen bags) and in the early Kirbys prior to the 508, as well as many other vacuum cleaners from the 1930s? The material feels sort of like canvas but is more pliable and not as thick. I thought it was called duvetyne but when I googled that term, what came up didn't sound like it. Hello the answer is as i was told by a dry cleaners, i wanted my bag invisibly repaired was heavy duty BLACK COTTON DRILL
YOU CAN STILL BUY THIS. The best place is eBay,but do make sure you get 100% cotton or you will have that polyester/viscose sheen to it,which will not look nice at all. It also must be the heavy duty Gage or the material will be too thin. I did find even with the heavy duty the material needed to be doubled up as was not quite as thick as the original. You can by the way also have your old bag scanned at a t shirt printers for the pattern down the front and printed on the new bag with out damaging the old bag. One thing is they can only do it in white as they don't have the right colors to make up correct shade but it does look good. I had a bag made too for one of my prewar hoover's. |
