The Humane Society Thrift Store in Vero Beach didn't disappoint me today, I found this little item in its original box, with the 13 page manual. Not estate sale quality, but a complete set which dates to about 1983. The plastic on the floor tool and the body of the cleaner is age yellowed and just a little dirt to be cleaned off. It's from the Montgomery Ward in Hastings, Nebraska. The box needs to have the duct tape extracted, and perhaps re taped with clear packing tape. The painted trim could stand refreshing too.

Very nice, Alan :)

Give it a bit of elbow grease and that'll look great.

They must have used cheap paint for those stripes because mines like that as well LOL. I like the Sears handvac a little better because it's somewhat smaller and the wands can attach directly to the vacuum without using the hose as does just the brushes alone so you can use it as a stick vac or a real handvac

I had a complete set of a GE portable, that had a little thing you could stick into the suction port, then put wands or whatever on it, and use it like a stick vac too. I gave the whole thing to a friend years ago, never saw another one except online. That paint on my MW is crappy, do you have one or a Hoover model?

I have the Hoover models. MW didn't have stores in Canada but being on the border people would buy stuff on either side so you do see their stuff as well occasionally.

I think I pushed a wrong button, I tried to put out a message earlier. I mentioned I had a nice grey GE portable with a tube to put into the suction port, you could use the wands and tools for a stick vac application, and to comment on that crappy racing stripe treatment on the MW portable. I imagine after a good cleaning, it would be gone. I think I'll try model paint if I redo it.
