Not strictly related but I got an Ash vacuum for our open fire and it was useless clogged constantly and very noisy and very messy to clean the large pleated filter. I was about to take the Shark liftaway to the local recycling centre as I was bored with it but just thought I would try it for the ash and it's working a charm just using the liftaway bit I'm amazed its maintaining its suction and this is after two weeks of usage! No idea on the Hitachi's specs, but would suggest when using ANY vac for that sort of purpose, fit an intermediary bin to catch most of the dust, and run the machine from a slightly reduced voltage. Best of luck!! :-) All best Dave T |
