Hmmm. I haven't posted in a few days.

Anyway, I'm gonna go pick up this Heritage II in about an hour. I'm so excited as I've been looking for a Heritage II for 6 years.

Though I'll be paying more for it than any other Kirby I've bought (next closest was my Sentria for $40) it'll end a long journey of looking in thrift stores and trying to pick up a good deal on one.

I have linked to the Craigslist post and provided a picture too.

I'm sure you'll get it looking nice! I think a Kirby has a higher self-esteem when it's shiny. I got my Sentria for $15.

Well, I truly thought I was going to end up with this one. Can't win them all.

But the guy was super rude.

The Kirby's bearings were going out and it had trouble starting up.

He told me on the phone it was not a shake out bag. Well, it was.

The thing spewed dust. He was incredibly hard on the vacuum and sucked up several rubber bands. The metal was in terrible condition and the belt lifter had a hole poked through it.

"Since I'm running a business here, I have to charge you tax." I only brought $75 in since that's what you are supposed to do during a craigslist sale.

When I told him I wasn't going to buy it he said, "Get the f*** out of my house."

I was really nervous in there. The house had a bad feeling to it. I'm literally surprised I got out alive.

I'll keep looking. I'll find my dream machine.

If I was there I woulda punched that guy in the face. And probably more than that. Sorry about that, I know how it feels.

Sorry to hear about the Kirby lost, you'll find one! I've been seeing them like crazy down here in Florida lately! 4 of them in a Week (including my brand-New Heritage II in my Kirby goldmine thread)! That shake-out bag is a rare option, but not something risking in that rude table refinisher's house! Fully refurbished my Twerk, I bet there was no shampooer, either?

Will,

While you did want this, it apparently was in too poor condition for you.

Too much $$$$$, too poor of shape, WHO would buy that worn-out thing for $75? Even with that shake-out bag! This man is a true professional in the art of Kirby restoration, Evan. Have you even seen his other cleaners? They're flawless!

I'd NEVER treat ANYONE like that...even the 3 guys who drive me nuts! Of course, 2 of them have and will never set foot in the place.
Have a look.

-- "If I was there I woulda punched that guy in the face. And probably more than that. Sorry about that, I know how it feels."

You didn't even hear the full story! It was much worse than my summary!

-- "Fully refurbished my Twerk, I bet there was no shampooer, either?"

Wow, you are a mind reader super-sweeper. He never mentioned the shampooer the entire time I was there. Heritage II's are really hard to find around here. In the last month I've seen 4 on Craigslist. 4! I didn't see that many in the previous 8 months!

-- "Too much $$$$$, too poor of shape, WHO would buy that worn-out thing for $75? Even with that shake-out bag! This man is a true professional in the art of Kirby restoration, Evan. Have you even seen his other cleaners? They're flawless!"

I totally forgot to mention the carbon brushes. They were spewing sparks out the sides of the vacuum! Also, I hate shake-out Kirbys. I make exceptions for the ones that were never made in disposable bag systems. But I really dislike how disgusting my Santronic VII, DS 80, and Classic III are. They are works of art, but are really not my favourite things to deal with. Wait... My cleaners? Surely you aren't talking about my vacuums... You must be talking about someone else? (I am truly confused xD)

gottahaveahoove, as much as I'd LOVE a Tradition (Colorado sold very few of them. I've only seen one in a thrift store or on Craigslist) I'm going to have to pass. Now that I've seen a Heritage II in real life again, I realized how much I want one. I love my Heritage and loved my G3, but they have problems. Almost all of the problems they have are solved in the Heritage II. Truly a perfect vacuum.

If you want to read the full story of what happened, you'll have to email me. It's the *uncensored* version of the man who cusses at his potential customers.

Will,

I'm sorry to hear about the bad experience you have had with most of your Kirbys. That man you dealt with should be fired from his job.

Ah, he's self-employed (since he's selling them out of his living room) so it doesn't really matter what he does to customers.

The man you dealt with should be fired from LIFE. Just curious, how tall was the guy? He might have thought twice before cussing me out. I'm 6'4" and weigh 260 lbs.

He was around 6'2" and probably around 230.

Unfortunately, I'm a 5'8", 190 pound kid so he easily could have over powered me. Including since I don't work out.

Kirby

I just bought a Kirby Heritage from a dealer. It was fully rebuilt, looks and runs like new and shines like a dime. I love it.I probably paid too much, but he did give me a warranty, a pack of bags, all the attachments, and book. He has been a dealer here in GB for 52 years.

I am loving it. HAve not had a Kirby for a while.

Ahh yeah. My Kirby Heritage is a beauty. I really love that machine.

I'd love to have a refurbed Heritage 84 with a shake-out bag as my Grandma Joan had one. I wouldn't use it but it sure would have amazing memories.

Any chance you could post some pictures? I could use something to lighten my day.

Of the two Kirbys I have, only the Dual Sanitronic 80 I acquired from Evan Baier (kirbykid) retains its shake-out bag.

My Classic III did have one, too, but ever since I had seen videos on YouTube of other people using Heritage II or Legend II Mini Emtor assemblies on theirs for HEPA bag operation, I felt eager to jump on that bandwagon and I haven't looked back, which might be for the better since a lot of people say that those old shake-out bags lose their filtration capability after over 20 years.

I originally had the Classic III since August 1998, after having been in my paternal grandparents' possession for the 11 years previous (the original owner gave his vac to them in 1987 before they moved to the St. Johns neighborhood of Portland, OR).

Typically, they work better than they look.

I can fix everything on a Kirby except it's tech drive mechanism. I don't quite understand how it works yet.

I'm hoping to get a Kirby with an irreparable tech drive and see how it works. Fortunately, I have yet to find one bad tech drive.

Tech drive is so nice though.

My little sister was using our Kirby when she was 4. She couldn't use my grandma's Heritage though. Too hard for her to push.

Is that a heritage 2 head on your legend 2? If it is id be happy to send you an original legend 2 head if you pay the 4 or 5 bucks for shipping.

TASE,

Believe it or not, when I first started collecting, I would admire other collections and think the same thing. You just have to be patient. I've spent 4 years working to grow my collection. You just have to know where to look. Around here, there are quite a few good thrift stores that I frequent. (It helps to live in a big city like Bombingham.) There is the Goodwill, the Big Saver, the America's Thrift Store, the other Big Saver, etc. That's not even the half of my collection, if you want, I can post 3 other photos I have.

Hi Will!

super-sweeper's profile picture

While I am to late to cheer up your day,I can still cheer up your day before yesterday.

I do not have many photos on hand of my collection (mainly because my camera is terrible, I still use 35 millimeter film for my photos, only using digital when it comes to vacuumland pictures, etc that must go on the internet).so far, my collection consists of my most recent find, the brand-New Heritage II Legend, an extremely rare 1979 Tradition with the infamous locking headlamp cap, an Omega done in Classic III red, 2 Classics, a   DS80, and a factory rebuilt 511. Still, I'll try to get photos by tomorrow, some others I have old photos of.

I'm not sure which of us came out better, we got the Heritage II, but probably would have passed if we'd seen & heard it first. You were presented a wreck & had the option to decline, but still have no "prize".

Honestly penie396, I just look around a lot. I found a Kirby Legend II with Classic III boxes and attachments with a little... Surprise for $30 at the thrift store recently.

Oh, and I found a very dirty G4 for $15. Gonna clean it up, get some attachments, and my shopping for my sister for Christmas is done!

And hey super-sweeper. I've just been busy. Had some family complications and homework that's taken over my life. Hoping to get back to vacuumland soon. (Though, I'm getting rid of about half of my collection.)

I'm getting rid of half my collection due to uhh... How do I say it. Lack if interest? I'm only interested in Kirby, Rainbows, and a certain era of Eurekas. My Miele, Electrolux, Dysons, Royal, Viking, one of my Rainbows, and one of my Kirbys will be hopefully boxed up ready to ship soon.

As much as I love some of these vacuums, I don't have the space and I'm saving up to buy a 91-95 S10 Blazer in March, so even if I only get $150 for all of these, that's 1/10th of the way there. I will be keeping most of my Kirbys, one Rainbow, and my lime green Kenmore vacuum.

As much as I love the Viking, it has to go. It's sat in my room since I bought it, unused.

I'm so excited to get a Blazer. The '98 doesn't seem bad, but I prefer the older body style/interior.

Honestly, I'll be getting whatever S10 is under $2000 or so and is in the best shape. It would just be nice to get the body style I like.
