Hey all! I have been searching and searching for an Electrolux G pretty much since I started collecting. I have seen several on eBay, some nicer than others, some complete, but the problem is they're just too dang expensive! I mean, $600? Seriously? Sure, it has everything, but they didn't even sell for a third of that price new! So, my question for you is: do you have a decent Model G that you'd be willing to part with? It doesn't have to be mint, but I'd like it to run nice and have a working Automatic Bag system, seeing as I have no clue how to service the mechanism. :P It doesn't need to have all the tools, either, just a hose. As for the color, I would love turquoise, but tan is just as fine.

I'm hoping that the price would be fair (under $600!) as well as shipping, because we all know that shipping rates nowadays suck. If you have a decent G that you'd be willing to sell, or know where I could get one, please help a fellow enthusiast out and let me know! Thank you so much.

Keep checking Craigslist--they pop up every once in awhile at decent prices. Otherwise, check with your local vacuum cleaner stores. Some have warehouses of trade-in machines as old as the Model G. They might also be at thrift stores or pawn shops.

I recently went to a vacuum store inquiring about Electrolux parts, and they contacted me with a local guy who has sold and repaired Aerus/Electrolux machines independently for around 30 years. He didn't have any Model Gs but did have a bunch of parts and attachments in his collection at reasonable prices. Now, I have a regular connection with someone who has parts which is a bonus to our recent transaction.

It

is really something to see that a Model G is commanding $600 for a cleaner that retailed for $149.95 and the power head (P/N 1) sold for $49.95. Now that is the Aquamarine G. The Tan sold for $169.95.

Inflation

We must account for inflation. Please keep in mind that a new Electrolux Model G most certainly cost more than $600 in 2014 US Dollars.

In 1960 (the year the Model G was introduced) a $200 Model G would cost $1,522 in today's dollars.

Let me make a quick note..... I'd like to keep the price under $100, as I don't have a whole lot of money at this time. Also, I may do some looking around here at yard/estate sales in the next couple of months. I don't absolutely need one right this second, but it's something I want to find in the next little while.

One possibility of getting a good model G would be to check with Nathan Thomas (electroluxdude on here) I purchased one from him and it was an amazing machine. He went through it and it run good as new and even with awful shipping rates these days, it was still very reasonable. Nathan has worked on many electrolux vacs and I would definitely trust a machine I purchased from him. I hope that helps you some! Good luck!
