Hi All,

I was using my dual sanitronic 50 a few weeks ago and the speed switch cracked and the vacuum went into a lower speed and started to smoke. I got a new switch, installed it, and when the power nozzle is on, it works fine on a higher speed. Well, I went to attach the hose, and it switched into a lower speed, and started to smoke again. I'm not quite understanding why this is. From what I can see, I matched all the wires correctly to the switch.

Maybe someone can shed some light on exactly what the speed switch is for, if when the hose is attached it is supposed to reduce speed, and why it may be smoking?

I'm pretty bummed out at this point as the vac worked super until this.

Thanks!

the rug nozzle is supposed to be the low speed & the hose the high speed. recheck the wiring. should not be smoking unless it's wired wrong.

Ryan,

Low speed is the speed used for the rug nozzle and all other belt-driven devices (floor polisher, Rug Renovator and Handi-Butler).

High speed is only for the hose.

Thanks, guys. That helps clear it up. Not quite sure where the problem was but the wiring was correct, but I took everything apart, greased bearings, cleaned inside (was very dirty) and put it back together. Runs perfect now.

I couldn't get the front bearing out though. I'm guessing it is pressed in? I have a regular sanitronic too, and I recall the front bearing just coming right out. Thanks!
