I think Eureka did a lot of private labels like that at various times - I once came upon a Silver King upright on eBay, too. It looked like a Sanitaire, so much so that I thought it might have been a fake of some kind, but it turned out to have been a private-labeled Eureka (who also made Sanitaire until recently). | ||

Colby, could you post the link to the auction? I cannot find it...ugh. I had the Silver-King version once in beautiful condtion, but sold it at one of the conventions. | ||

The Compact Upright was made at the same time as the gold colored C-8. It was built by Eureka, but featured "venture air jets", which were nothing more than holes drilled into the front of the machine to allow air to flow when used on long shag rugs.
The Silver King upright was actually a Universal upright, but Silver King bought the dies and tooling after Universal went out of business. | ||
