So today - a week after arrival in the US - I finally had a chance to check out some of the local stores just to see what is on offer...
One of the first stores I wandered into had this machine - I was really quite surprised... It appears to be in fairly good condition and for the grand sum of $35! LOL Brushroll was in good shape and spun freely - belt obviously was rather ordinary - and the flex was starting to crack - but still - all in all - my first old machine that I've come across! It didn't come home with me - as I don't have any space at the moment - but am surprised at the sheer size of these stores in Delaware... There are three on the main street alone - and they're HUGE!!! A huge mix of crockery and glassware - but nothing much of interest to me! If anyone's ever in this area though I'd highly recommend taking a look! |

Welcome to America, and welcome to Ohio! I'm about an hour's drive North of you in Galion, OH. Although we've never met, we did talk on the phone once when you were at Norm Brown's for a mini-meet a few years ago. I wasn't able to make it, think maybe I had to work that day. Ben's right, that is a model 189 Good Housekeeper. Although it's not too rare, there aren't a lot of them around, so I would recommend going back and picking it up if you can. Maybe make them an offer of $20 and see if they take it. Here's my Good Housekeeper.
