John is on a short trip to Pittsburgh for a conference this week. Well tonight I drove downtown to pick John up from the convention center, we proceeded to my home for a quick supper. I served for starters pickled beets, the. For supper we had roast beef. Asparagus, and buttered noodles. Since it was an informal meal taken in the breakfast nook I chose to use my better everyday dinnerware

Then after dinner we proceeded to the vacuum area where John got to enjoy some cleaners, such as this Hoover vault Elite 5.2 for K-Mart

And this Hoover PowerDrive

(Please excuse the looks of my vacuum room as I'm still sorting and unpacking)

And sometimes one just isn't enough, so we are doubling up with a Concept Two Electeonic, and a pristine Citation

After some vacuum time it was off to sit on my new davenport as I served desserts and tea.
I chose to use my best china with the 22 my gold filigree trim, and my good silver that matches my hand made cut glass serving pieces for dessert

Looks like a fabulous time was had!! Can't wait to see more pictures of your new home as you get settled, as well as your collection. I am absolutely DROOLING over that non-SP Concept Two!

That is one nice Hoover Citation. I like your sofa and dishes too. Just what I would expect from a fellow Buick driver.
John looks so natural with a Hoover in his hand!

The dishes dessert and tea was served on is from Canonsburg Pottery and is the LaJean pattern. The glass serving tray and the silver are both first love pattern

Fred that is one of my favorite Concept twos, and it's the Electronic

Thanks for the compliments on the Citation, it is in beautiful shape.

William, I too love the couch, oddly not what I went in for I wanted a traditional sofa and love seat with a camel back but ended up with the sectional. It does pair nicely with the boomerang coffee table

Looks like a fantastic time! I remember playing with my Grandmothers Concept One then she bought the Power Drive!

Glad you two had such a great time together.  I had to work and couldn't make it up to the area.  Would be great to meet up some time though.

Looks fun!

If you look closely, He has BOTH a non-self-propelled AND a Self-Propelled Concept II Electronic, There's always fun when there's HOOVERS!

But I'm wondering, what on earth is that giant white cube in Reply #1? It looks as if it has vacuum-sized inlets, but then why does it appear to have a removable top tray? I'm clueless!

Well, I JUSTgot home!

700 people attended that national convention. The convention center and Westin Hotel were mobbed, it was impossible to stop at my room on th 12th floor. THus, Sam picked me up still in a suit and even wearing my name badge. Sam's house is very cute.. like mine, a work in progress. Light fixtures, etc were just being replaced, 'welcome to my world". He was terribly kind and hospitable. Dinner was very nice, a surprise (that he went to that much trouble... NOT a surprise it was very nice". One must be very clear about posts.
Yes, that Citation is a beauty as are all of the others. That cream colored carpet has the best "grooming marks in Pittstburgh"!! We stopped at Sam's church.... very nice, indeed.
He then returned me to the hotel, so I could finish the conference. After a long day in X-rayland, he went out of his way to make that trip to get me, and then return me to the hotel. It was a great micro meet. Sam, best of luck on that house. All of that fuss, dishes, etc... were HIS idea. But, snob that I am...... I suppose he felt it "fitting".
Also, I was right in downtown Pittsburgh... almost across the street from the HEINZ Factory. It was GREAT to see it in operation: "57" on one smokestack, and "HEINZ" on the other. Smoke coming out of chimmneys, etc. It made me think of the beloved HOOVER factory......
Pittsburgh has undergone a massive restoration, seeme like between 2008---2012. It is a bustling town. It certainly in BEAUTIFUL. I'm glad I got to be there, to visit with Sam, and to be one of the "featured presenters" at this. Itried to do this for the past 6 years.
Thanks, again, Sam.
John

Thank you!!How kind of you to say that........................ and NOT untrue. If Sam ever is missing a Citation... hmmmmmmmm He aso has a BRAND new "soft" original bag on his 68....................Totally "fab". I probably looked funny is someone else's home.
I hope to go back to Pittsburgh, when I'll be able to really see it. I was very busy at those "sessions". It was huge. Luckily, for me, 2 of the most important people were at my presentation. I got compliments throughout the conference. For THAt, I was very grateful, and humbled. Someone told me "You'll NEVER do this'. Well, I DID!. And it was great. THanks for the pics, Sam.
By the way: Sam has really been renovationg both his home and himself. Quite a weight loss, Sam. You'er looking good, AND improving your health. KUDOS to you.
John

One more picture of John during his visit, I was mortified when he found the paper towels , I only use them for cleaning. John insisted on using one as a napkin as we are dessert on the fine 22 kt gold china

Would never fit in my house, but, it's a totally different house!
Sam and I have the same Convertible by BY HOOVER FOR J. C. Penney. Or, as we call it, "Jacques Pennoire"! Sam likes his paper products. But, Who doesn't??
Sam is a very bad boy!

Post# 272598 , Reply# 22   3/19/2014 at 22:22 (3,661 days old) by xraytech ()

John, that's not nice to spread rumors that I like paper products.
It's always linens and good dishware and silver for me.

My idea of very informal dining is the Tupperware plates and tumblers with white cloth napkins for an outdoor barbecue, but I've been known to use the semi formal dinnerware for a barbecue.

And Hans, I just knew you'd be one to appreciate my lovely tiered coffee table with floating glass boomerang

You KNOW you like paper!

gottahaveahoove's profile picture
Also, it was fun running arund your "neck of the woods" in your Buick. It's just like Aunt Lizzie's. She enjoyed 2 Lincoln Town Cars before this. As I mentioned, the T Car became too much car for her. Too big, too fast, too much. She's comfy now in the Lucerne. I drove those Lincolns a lot. It was like a 4 poster bed on tires!
For the record: Sam DID get out the linens and silver. for me! His tip will reflect that. The food at the convention was awful. I believe that building is the "largest, greenest building ever built". But he food "licked wallpaper"......... that's fancy J. Long lingo for, 'it sucked". Quick, someone get me a paper towel!
