Hello,

Here are pics of an Electrolux USA shag rug tool currently listed on eBay. I'm wondering in what years the tools were made, and if they were made in different colors? This one appears to be ivory and jade with a gold-colored logo on the front. The teal wand lock tip makes me think 1205.

I believe it came out in 1973-74 when the PN2 was introduced, I remember my mother having this attachment on our 1205, the old PN1 was not too efficient on shag carpet, so they sold her this attachment. The shag attachment did not clean too well, she wound up buying a new Kirby with the Shag King nozzle on it and used the 1205 upstairs.

I have that same tool and agree it came out in the 1970s when shag was so popular in the U.S. It matches the blue and white accent colors of the Golden Jubilee & Super J.

I've never seen one that matched the colors of the Model G or 1205 so I don't know if they were available or not.

I've never used one of those, but I can't picture it doing a very good job. That's just a guess, though.

Charles,

Thanks for posting pics of your shag rug tool. I did check a Model 1205 manual I have and found it listed as an optional attachment.

The reason I thought of the Model 1205 to begin with was the jade color which matched the inlet panel of at least its last version. Also, the wand lock tips of the Golden J and Super J were ivory; not teal like those of the Model 1205.

I'm beginning to think, though, that they were only made in the one color scheme. It would be interesting to check out the Olympia One, Silverado, and Diamond Jubilee manuals to see if the attachment is listed in them. I thought I'd read somewhere that it was available through that time, but I may be mistaken.

Here and following are pics of a (the) Canadian version:
