Do any of you still have any bottled Kirby cleaning supplies over the years? These are becoming harder to find since there's the old adage that "a bottle, is a bottle, is a bottle."

I think the reason many Kirby bottled cleaning supplies are hard to find now is because the chemicals used for the bottle don't react kindly to the chemicals used for the cleaning solution. Early on, the Instant Suds had alkaline included in its formula, which necessitated the use of the Rug Protector pads starting from the Dual Sanitronic 50 up through the Tradition.

I have an empty bottle of Kirby Instant Suds that is from the era of the Classic 1CR; but since it lacks any mention of KGF40, that would lead me to believe this bottle was sold after the summer of 1971.

I Should Point Out...

... that this discussion is intended for empty bottles only, those produced from 1962 to 1990.

The ph for

all shampoo is alkaline side of the scale usually 8.0-8.5. Instant suds was somewhere in that range.

Something of that magnitude could easily degrade an old bottle, correct?

Kirby Cleaning Bottles

I found this set on eBay a year or so ago. I don't really know anything about it. All of the bottles still have solution in them.

From left to right, the smaller bottles in the front are:
oil and grease remover
Formula B (removes acidic materials such as blood and meat juice)
Formula A (removes alkaline materials such as rust and urine)
Ink and Stain remover

Cameron,

Could you please scan or take pictures of the entire sheet I see regarding how to use the materials in the Care Kit?

Thank you,

Ben

Sorry my scanner isn't working at the moment but I think this should give you a pretty good idea. The back side is the same, except in French.
