I am losing lease on my big warehouse SOON.This is at a time that I am doing extra things in addition to my vac store.I have 3 antique mall booths with furniture, kitchen and more items as well as starting a book store in a mercantile and antique mall in a former sewing factory building across from WalMart and shopping centers.I have just shelved 1000 books with a 1000 more to follow.I also continue EBay with some interesting and rare vacs and other items. This is also a time I wish to simplify and downsize.
Out of HUNDREDS of vacs in warehouse I may keep 5% as future EBay or personal collection.OTHERS WILL GO!!!Scrap metal yard, dumpster, folk artists with welders or collectors. If any interest best to call 423-297-6918 BEFORE your favorite vac goes across parking lot to dumpster.
More later.
Pics later.

Would you happen to have any green Kenmore canisters? Or earlier type with attachment opening on top in blue/gray. Also I am still interested in a green Hoover Slimline, hose and attachments. Also maybe a green Hoover Convertible.

Hi Jimmy..

I will try to come pick up that Kenmore soon, also I still want to find more round 50s Kenmores in good shape..Hans

Jimmy,

Please let me know if you have a floor/rug tool in tan G colors and how much you'd want for it. I'd also be interested in a manual.

In addition, I have a Sidekick (model 1562) but need a wand and cord for it, so that I can use it with my non-electric hoses.

Thirdly, if you have a spare plastic PN-1 wand (the second version after the gray Model F one) I need one.

If your prices aren't too high I'd like to patronize you.

I was also going to ask you if you have a list of Electrolux machines with their names and model #s (and any other information)--particularly since the Model 1521s. I am trying to complete information for a possible collectors' book.

fan of fans-Green canisters?Yes but not grouped together yet.Blue/Gray?At least a very nice blue with smaller blue PowerMate.Metal can, late 60s ?Green Slimline? So far found an olive type green color but warehouse has a row of Slimline/Portable including'regular' green.Green Convertible?Almost any Conv both metal base & plastic. Many green/white plastic.Various conditions.Every plastic and most metal base Conv will go!
kenkart-Sooner the better.Many round and square 50s.Then many 60s,70s.Older and nicer-more value,others-less.
paul-Should have rug/floor and PN 1.List?Not yet but have much literature to keep and continue organizing.

Hi Jimmy, I am sending Hans to see you with a very short wish list:

1. I have a Eureka Model 9 that is missing the screws to attach the handle to the machine. Need those screws.

2. Original bag for a Hoover 26, or a 28 will do - as long as it's brown.

3. Brown plastic halo & ivory cord for Electrolux economy model 4153.

4. Bare floor tool for my Green G.E. Swivel-Top.

5. Hoover 913: original black pinstriped bag

6. Royal gray dusting brush (plastic head with chrome snout)

Hello again, Jimmy,

Here are some more items on my wish list:

1. Several teal and ivory cord end holders (see photo) that snap onto hose

2. 2 metal swivel connectors (teal tipped wand locks preferred; white would work)

3. White wall brushes and dusting brushes (Model G--aqua and tan)

4 Rug Washer (tan G colors)

5. 2 teal cords for PN-1 teal sheath

6. 2 teal Rug Washer trays ('60s)

"short list"

I will be glad to fill orders on short lists but also need people with long list, big truck & moderate amount of $$.For some small items I need to move out dozens or hundreds of vacs(to dumpster, scrap yard or collectors) to begin sorting small items.
Electrolux 137-I am most likely to have-28 bag, brown halo,Royal dust.
Paul-Have many Rug Washer. Not sure of tan. Some small items will be kept and sorted later. Some are in attic that I have little time for until warehouse is EMPTY.

I do understand your dilemma, having been through a major garage clear-out myself when I had to move about three years ago from the place I'd lived for nearly 20 years. I wished people would have shown up with trucks but no one did. I'm just hoping that when Hans comes out there he will bring his big truck and fill it up, leaving just enough room for the small piddley stuff that I want. :)

Jimmy,

I also understand your dilemma. If there were a carpool going from the area, I'd be interested in going to help you clear out.

As for the rug washers, what is your asking price? I really just wanted the tan, but wouldn't mind having all the colors.

If you have any GE uprights ranging from the 40's to the 70's I would love to find some. That and if you have a Constellation 87 with the electric hose and anything Sunbeam.

warehouse vacs

Paul-most RW are 1205 or newer. Some new in box.Prices might start at $15.
Kirbykid-Would love for you or someone to have a pile of Kirbys to sort and rebuild but is there a practical way to transport to you? Most are Heritage and newer. Some Omega-Tradition.Very few Sanitronic.Very, very few 50s.But many boxes, att and box, butler, polisher, etc.
Opelgtkarl-Some 40s GE including tan and black/red colors.A very few 60s/70s style.A very nice, complete 87 but sort of my personal collection but might sell at some price.(Most warehouse vac prices could be $1-$20.A few higher depending on rarity, condition, etc.)Several Sunbeams-various models, mostly canisters.--P.S.One of my Elux managers had 2 Opel GT in his driveway for 2 teenage boys. One painted his a custom black/gold.Looked as good as many Vettes.

I guess I should have asked if you would be willing to ship anything. I would be interested in the blue Kenmore canister, a Hoover 1020 Convertible and matching lime Slimline if so. I know it would be a lot of work. I would come if I was nearby but I'm in FL.

Warehouse vacs

fan of fans-"willing to ship?"-YES,this means that I will take vac to UPS Store(closer than scrap yard, further than dumpster)after I receive a small or reasonable payment based on rarity & condition.I will put vac and parts (taken apart if needed on a particular vac) on counter with your phone number. It will then be you & UPS deciding on packing, supplies, insurance and shipping.
opelgtkarl-Will try to have pics soon but a few of these vacs are at main store and most time now has to be spent at warehouse until empty. The black/red GE was painted black, not polished,& black bag with red emblem, red bumper.Pretty vac!Sunbeams include round/flat,Courier and Challenger. Many should be complete or nearly after parts are sorted.
All-Will be willing to ship as above, but if you or someone in your region has truck and is ready for a road trip where the days are longer and the snow has melted now is the time before most(95%)are GONE.We started a scrap metal pile that so far includes AirWay 55,Elux XXX & LX and chrome top Rainbow.

Jimmy,

That sounds like a fair price for the rug washers. When you find time, let me know which colors you have.

All,

If anyone is planning on a road trip that is somewhat close to southern Minnesota let me know. I'll help pay for gas.

The shipping is the easiest part of it all. I give the people at PODS a phone call and they come and pick it all up and deliver it all. Paying you is the problem. How much would it cost for them all? could I see pictures?

Do you have Kenmore power mate head that goes with a sears best canister in almond with wood grain & orange bumper. Do you have A 9ft electrified hose blanks? I need 1 for the ends shown in photo. if you don't have any of those, do you know someone who does?

Power Mate with orange bumper-I think we just put one still good for parts in scrap pile. Will look and retrieve if so.(Not a joke that they WILL GO!)Also have vac with orange trim. Will be putting more Sears together in groups and then they all go.I can only think of one 9 ft hose and it is cracked at end as yours must have been.

snow69-With luck we may sort some Convertible and all DAM by Sun.There is one orange/white power drive DAM away from the main group.
Doug-,Lewyt atts are mostly in boxes at main store.CBs are down center aisle behind F-G Eurekas. There is at least one CB 2000 box(no vac). There is much here that is worthy of museum setting if you or others could make a truck or trucks move them northward. Some non electric. Many uprights of 20s,30s,40s.Almost any brand and model of 60s-70s.Many interesting comm machines including ancient Finnel buffer, industrial canisters by Invincible,Clark,Spencer,Doyle, etc & MORE!,

BBFvac76-KM hoses for 5023 type are likely to be gone or cracked. The 9 ft was always rare.
damlvr-Sunbeam with cordwinder are likely in attic at main store.Warehouse comes first.

Hi There,

If you happen to come across a Hoover suitcase portable with a cord winder in good condition to excellent condition, I would be interested. However, a photo will be required.

As I have a paypal account, I can very easily transfer funds to you.

Looking for one that is in GOOD to EXCELLENT condition. It must also have all of the attachments.

Hello Robert------Goodby Hoovers !!

A collector from the northeast left 40 degree weather to come to sunny 60 degree TN and found 14 new and old (mostly complete with proper bags) Hoover Convertibles.Even though this now looks like it was only about 3% of convertibles I can now continue down the left side and list DAMs.
100% - 3% = A LOT left for everyone else.Who will be next!!!?

Warehouse )Kirby items)

Good afternoon,

I had seen your post about clearing out your warehouse and was curious what you had remaining of Kirby "Stuff." Let me first say, that I was sorry to hear that you are losing these spaces and that I hope it will benefit you in the future. That being said, I was looking for any decals...blue trim pieces in particular if you still had anything left. Just out of curiosity, are the Kirby's already gone?

Sincerely,
Larry

Kirbys & more

Much Kirby stuff but relatively few trim pieces.I think some blue trim was to rebuild Sanitronic style. But first vacs and atts need to go!!.Many big boxes, att boxes,HandiButler and accs, hoses, plastic Her & Gen att caddy, and MORE and many Heritage & Her II,little Legend, few Omega-Tradition,few Sanitronic & 50s styles.A few kept for EBay,MOST GOING(scrap yard sent me a text yesterday to bring more scrap metal!)!!
Charles-After moving cordwinder FG Eurekas & 50s Kirbys & a Panasonic with electronic control I can see in the distance (as they saw when first entering King Tuts tomb) a brown Special with halo & cord. Not sure yet of cord condition but getting closer.

Pictures !

To review-I am losing the warehouse.Perhaps 95% of vacs will GO.There may happen to be a vac in pics that will not be available. Most (but NOT all) of vacs offered will between $1 & $20.
The best way to aquire is if you or someone in your area can make the easy Interstate drive with large cargo space and moderate amount of $.I will also take a vac to UPS after receiving a reasonable price and you and UPS will discuss packing & shipping.
Pictures-If you have been here you will see that some vacs pictured, and available, are at main store.I had hoped we could begin to show at least 40% but after seeing pics it may not be 20%.MUCH more, some better & better organised,is further back than we went today.
If interested ! -1. Call 423-297-6918 2. Consider trip.
To review this review-THEY ARE GOING !! to collectors, vac dealers, local folk artist with welder-big truck & barn, scrap metal yard that just promoted me to VIP customer status, dumpster OR ?!?

Vikings

As with many- vac, hose, nozzle & atts can be in different areas. There are both orange and white tanks as well as tan uprights and 3 brush shampooers with chrome base cover that is based on the B-6 style.Should be able to make complete tank outfit as well as some UR atts.

Would you happen to have any Kirby 4-row, 13" brush rolls (part no. 500505 for models 513-D80 and the 13" wide nozzle version of the Heritage I-Legend II) available in your lot among Kirby parts?

To Jimmy

Hi Jimmy I called and left you a message to call me on my Cell phone or you can email me privately too, my email is thetrain53@gmail.com. There is some Electrolux stuff mainly hoses, that I might be interested in. Also noticed the motor unit to a brown Lux CB. Was wondering if there might be the chrome tank to it somewhere? If so I might be interested in that as well. I've got about 12 or so of the Airway vacuums like the green one that is pictured, that need hoses. Anyway, feel free to contact me at your convenience, either by telephone or by email. (806) 341-6694, that is my cell number.
Thanks

I was wondering if you have a Montgomery Wards machine from the late 70's I don't have an actual picture, but I do have a copy of an ad. The handle is metal painted white and the base of the machine would be an orangey color.

Jimmy,

I'm the new kid on the block here and really wish I'd had the chance to get to know you before you had to scrap all of those vacs.

I did notice that you had lots of hoses.  Is it possible that you'd have a hose for an Arkay?  I wrote a post about it,  but figured you're not doing a lot of extra reading just now.

I hope it all goes well for you and that your new store is a hit.

Hello Seth,Goodbye vacs!

Seth drove down from the northeast to a warm, sunny TN day Sat in a minivan.Ever wonder how many vacs can fit in a Chrysler made van with fold down seats? There was -Electrolux CB,CB2000,R,TriVac,rugwasher & 2 Concept & 2 Vax (1 in box with parts) & 2 Magic Blue (1 in box with parts) & Sears can & HMI Eurovacs & HOSES & 3 Eureka Express with power nozzles & hand vacs & Celebrity & Black & Decker can & more & more & MORE!!And you could still see out the back window.--And as before this was only a fraction of what is available.Who will be next!?!

toastermike-Many 55(and 66),some atts,a few hoses. So the best could be complete, the worst may go to folk artist with welder.

warehouse vacs

Gary,Golden Crown-Hose would not be original, should have wands, many Eur atts but not sure how many in original color.Did find correct upholstery Sat.-Big wheel-Very few hoses, some wands, maybe several atts but as with many things stored in different areas.
Joel,No Brush N Beat after a visit by collectors from the mid west last year.
Brooms?-YES!
At least 2 upstairs and more in every corner of warehouse including about 8 we grouped together today while uncovering Sears Best 1971 Craftsman shop vac & 1 of 3 (the mid size)Invincible industrial. They range from early! with thick reddish bag to blue/white 2 motor.Teus may continue finding Regina brooms, small Shetland & various polishers.Brooms may total 15-20 and most seem different. Also have original box, shag atts & at least 1 of the smallest rechargable.
Hoping for more pics this week.Plastic Sears,Eureka & Hoover canisters are very close to trip to dumpster after cords go to scrap yard!!

Rugsucker,
I'd be interested in the Lewyt hose, wands and rug/floor nozzle. It doesn't really matter what condition the hose is in as long as the handle and hose end are in good shape whereby I could replace the hose. I'm interested in the Golden Crown as well with or without the attachments.

Gary

warehouse vacs

jaker15-As above I hope to group more Regina brooms today and someone else asked first but there should be enough for both of you and others.
countryguy-As seen the Golden Crown is found and can be held for you.Hoses and atts can be in different places including 2 story with attic main store and might take longer.
To all--I am taking wants from here as well as phone calls. Then first step is list on legal pad, then gather items interested in,check condition, talk with you again(usually phone-mine is 423-297-6918)agree on reasonable price and shipping and then old vacs will have new home.As always if you or someone in your area can drive up with large cargo space and reasonable amount of currency you will get same day service but not a vac such as the Golden Crown that is being held for one who was first to ask.

Interested in a Kirby

luxy1205's profile picture
Hi there! I'm new to collecting vacuums. I have 2 Electrolux 1205's, 1 Electrolux LX, 1 Electrolux XXX, 1 Hoover Convertible, a 1940's handheld Westinghouse, and a 1990's handheld dirt devil. I would love to add a Kirby to my growing collection! I love the 500 series, Dual Sanitronic 80, and the Heritage! It's hard to decide what I want as a first Kirby, but I would be interested in purchasing a Heritage from you. I don't live anywhere near you, so I would have to have it shipped. I'm just wondering how much you would want for a Kirby Heritage? Also, I would prefer one that is complete, like I said, I'm just taking off with the vacuum bug, and would love to have one to use! Thank you! -Michelle

That's awesome to hear that you love Luxes and want a Kirby! I have a few Kirbys as well as Electroluxes (my favorite is the XXX) and can confirm that the 500 series Kirby cleaners are fantastic. I have a 1954 model 514, and being 60 years old, it still works like new.

Thanks!!! The only Electrolux that I ever knew of was the 1205. My mom used one since I was about 8 years old up on till I was 18 I think. It was her mom's and she bought it new! It's not new anymore! I have a thread on the pics of what it looks like now. I found it at my parents' house in their garbage heap! Needless to say, it now lives with me! It's mostly covered in rust, missing all but one wheel, the handle is completely missing, but I'm going to restore it! What's funny is it still runs great and the cord winder works like it's new! Well, my mom just passed about 6 months ago and now that I have it, it means so much more! That vacuum is what started my obsession! Before I got my mom's 1205, my husband bought me my own 1205 from Ebay and I use it everyday! So, from there I realized that there are so many different styles of Electrolux canisters and I had to have the LX and the XXX!!! Anyways, I've always thought the Kirbys were scary and fascinating at the same time! I've always cherished the movie Brave Little Toaster and loved "Kirby"! Ha Ha! I think they're amazing part of history and can see myself collecting Kirbys like a crazy person! I collect vintage clock radios, Sunbeam Mixmasters stand mixers, electric hand mixers, vacuums, and chainsaws too! I don't know much about Kirbys at all! What model do you think is the best and a good one to have for a daily user??? Thanks for writing to me! -Michelle

I guess I'll have to just keep looking at the photos and wishing... there's just no way I can get out there to get some stuff, and even less of a way to get it back here. That Kirby in the 6th photo from the bottom sure is pretty. I also recently found a really decent greenish-white Hoover Celebrity that just came with the hose, one wand, and the floor brush. It would be great to be able to fill it out... along with the other bits of stuff on my wish list. Well, I hope you have good results with your warehouse cleanup. I really do wish I could be there.

Hey gang!

Last weekend I had a great trip to Jimmy's warehouse. Had nice breakfast near the store and a great afternoon digging through the warehouse. Sorry this post is a week late, it has been rather chaotic since I returned home. I will upload a photo once the weather cooperates a little more. And holy vacuums batman! There are more goodies in that warehouse than I could have imagined! Loads of interesting and quality machines just waiting for a good home. I was able to get quite a loot for a little money. I would actually like to go back next month if I'm able to. There are some more items is like to have as well as find missing/ hiding parts for units I got last weekend.

and HOSES and BAGS and PARTS and NOZZLES and---

After the above vacs left for new homes I was able to sort an area with boxes & boxes of various parts and reach second layers of vacs that were under first layers. As these boxes have started proving, just because you see a vac with no parts beside it does not mean they are not in the building!---Vacs are being set aside for people here and who call 423-297-6918 that will go across this country and Canada.I am grouping together vacs different people are interested in,will then check condition and agree on price and shipping. It does take some time as I still have to make living at main vac store.Among others today I have to find out why a late model deluxe Sears can will not turn on.If any of you or others in your region can made the easy trip(4 lane from I-81 to the street at my doorway)you are welcome to help and dig and select in person.Today is sunny and finally at least 60 degrees.---More after I attempt to make the Sears run.

Q & A

2011Hoover700-Elux and Connies are mostly untouched until more is moved out. Then will have you in mind for nice ones.
stricklybojack-I would like to keep 10% or less. Some nice, interesting & rare vacs to exchange for $ on EBay or other means and some as collection.Personal favorites include(but not limited to)certain uprights such as 30s-60s Kirby,Hoover,Eureka. Also some canisters including 50s-60s GE,Hoover,Sears. Most Elux products and some very early electrics.I have either worked for Elux or had store for around 30 years. Some were from flea mkt, yard sale, thrift stores. But most as store trades, trade ins from DTD dealers when they were more plentiful, others vac dealers that retired or died, and leads with or from other collectors.
jaker15-Should be a few more brooms in corners. Will let you know.
kirbyduh-Needs to be finished soon as possible. There is MUCH Elux.Almost any after Mo XII(but XX,T & CA very rare)Should consider trip before they go to my folk artist with welder and become high dollar sculpture. He just took misc iron rods & glass and made a bottle tree that sold for a few hundred dollars.Easy drive from KY.Look at Rt 25 toward Bean Station & Kingsport TN if it works from your area.
sbakerde-Just found gray electric hose for your Black & Decker canister and we forgot box for you D-3 Rainbow. Will be waiting for you.

Hi, Jimmy,

Here is an updated inclusive wish list. I have combined my lists from replies 3, 6, and 89:

1) a tan CB to the list--depending on price

2) a starburst B-8 shampoo tank

3) a tan B-8

4) a tan/ivory floor/rug tool (tan G colors)

5) a plastic PN-1 ribbed wand (the second version after the Model F)

6) several teal and ivory cord end holders (see photo) that snap onto hose

7) white wall brushes and dusting brushes (Model G--aqua and tan)

8) Rug Washer (tan G colors)

9) 2 teal Rug Washer trays ('60s-style as you have mentioned)

10) Exhaust louvers/diffusers for donut-style and Model G cord winders (ivory and teal)

11) PN-1 brush rolls--good condition

12) 2 hoses (aqua Model G and ivory Model L colors)

13) a tan Model G manual (yellow cover)

14) an aqua Model G canister--first version with bumper on cord

I was also going to ask you if you have a list of Electrolux machines with their names and model #s (and any other information)--particularly since the Model 1521s. I am trying to complete information for a possible collectors' book.

Jimmy

Here is a list of the items that I am most interested in (nothing very complex)
1) PN-1 with plastic wand and cord to match Aqua G
2) Dusting brushes for model E, AF, and Aqua G
3) Floor/carpet nozzle,for model E ( no spring clamp) and Aqua G
4) Cosmetically nice model AF hose
5) Any regular lux air powered polisher
6) White bristle dusting and wall brushes
7) Nice PN 2.
8) If I am able to make it down there, I would like these machines in decent shape: model S, AE, and white model L.
9) This may be a long shot, but would you happen to have one of those special little metal, horseshoe shaped upholstery tools? Thanks.

Hello Post Office,goodbye vacs-

-Money arrived and vacs departed to a north central state today. These will include GE Swivel Top,Hoover,Eureka and parts for Kirby & Electrolux.
Also trying to Kount Kirbys.More on this later as the Kirby population is larger than expected.

Post# 275585 , Reply# 202   4/10/2014 at 18:51 (3,662 days old) by rugsucker (Elizabethton TN)
Kounting Kirbys

I will use Kirbys as one example why this takes longer than getting fast food or item at grocery.(Note-2 collectors will have 1st & 2nd choice on most Kirbys.)I thought I might have about a dozen older Kirbys after they were found in all corners of warehouse.I then pulled out 23 between 505 & DS 80.When I went to bring down the 1 in attic it had become 3 & a Sanitronic rug nozzle. While looking for hose for GE now on its way north I found 2 more in storage area at store.Today brought over a 511(?)that may or may not be last at warehouse.Then--What about condition and value??Each has to be checked and run. Most have original bags, many have original cords,3 are factory rebuilt(1 in 1962),so far one chipped fan, most motors good to very good. And at least half a dozen between DS 80 & Her.-All this with the usual day to day vac store business which today meant spending time with 2 Generations for customers when I might rather service a DS 50 or 80.(Part of reason most should GO! to new homes.)Hope to have a more complete census of Kirbys soon and then this count and story can be repeated with most brands and models that you might think of.--Anyone want to help with the counting and sorting??-Or bring a truck and help the numbers decrease!?

HI

my friend Joel came down from NY and got some hoover dial a matics for me and some regina brooms for him self. He had asked for some dial a matic brush rolls (the short ones)for (non) power drive models. I need the newer style ones that sweep the dirt trod the suction, taking the reverse helix brush strips. I need about 12 of them if you find some I can rebuild let us know.

Regina parts

electrikbroomgu's profile picture
Hey Jim,

If you happen upon any of those Regina broom floor nozzles that were missing I would be interested in those if and when found or any other broom parts. I especially need the brown ones from the 50's model 600 brooms which were tan and brown in color or the all black ones that came on the earlier model 1 or K. Also did you find any more Regina's hiding in the shadows?

Thanks a million,

Joel

In addition to the metal bodied Electrolux and constellation, do you have a plastic singer twin fan rug plate that is for tool free belt change models you can throw in for a couple of dollars ?  This is for models such as model sst 100b . I'll want to see a picture of the rug plate before I make the decision though.

Thanks again

Do you have any Lux guardians? I just want the body and hose. Already have a Renaissance... Just don't want to fry the handle controls as the boards are super expensive and super hard to find! Let me know. Thanks, KC

more warehouse pictures

More pics but much still remains unseen!
Kirbys-This should be all of 505/DS-80.(2 collectors that spoke early have first & second choice.)The ones with white tags have been checked. All these motors seem good to very good with only one cracked fan blade.
The rest are examples of only some of what is left to be found here.
Shetland-Lewyt.Have more of each style.
Viking-This is just a one of each pic.Have 3 sham/pol,more of others,hoses,atts,etc.

Who will be next with a truck or a van or a UHaul or ?!?

Gosh! If I had the money, I would take a 2-week vacation, rent a van and drive down to you to rescue one classic Eureka Williams vac or polisher from each year between 1954 and 1974! Then I'd raise funds to build a Eureka Museum in good ole Bloomington, Illinois!

It's strange, but I have that same loyalty, love and devotion to Eureka Williams as many here have for Hoover. Would love to see a museum dedicated to my favourite vac-maker!

It hurts to hear that so many may end up in the dumpster....hope someone close to Tennessee can rescue some nice Eurekas.... :-)
