I use a heritage II weekly and fill the kirby hepa bags quite fast. At $4 per bag, it is getting expensive. If I use another vacuum (like a classic III) that has the empy out bag, can I vaccum out the hepa bags outdoors?

My concern is if the hepa bags wear out from a filtration standpoint.

You cannot re-use HEPA bags, or any other disposal bag for that matter. The bag material will get weaker and weaker every time you vacuum it out, and you will risk having the bag bust inside the machine. Vacuuming it out won't do much good anyways because all the very fine dust becomes trapped in the cloth membrane. The membvrane is electrostatically charged, and attracts dust like a magnet.

Well, it looks like I will be the guinea pig. I vacuumed out one of the hepa bags with my classic III, outdoors. The material looks VERY VERY robust. I do not think it will break. However I am not sure how well the filtration will hold up.

At $4.50 per bag, these are too pricey.

Re-using any disposable bag is never a good idea, the pores in the filtration material will remain plugged up, even though you've removed the bulky dirt, you're not addressing the plugged pores. Just throw the bag away and move on.

Another thing on the cloth type disposable HEPA Kirby bags-or others for that matter-if the outside of the bag is no longer white-like grey or black-the filtering ability of the bag is gone. The pores are clogged and some of the dirt is starting to "migrate" out of the bag.REPLACE IT!Forget about dumping the bag and reusing it.If you pick up a lot of dirt-get a dump bag for your Kirby-an aftermarket item.Or I guess that "dreaded" Kheeler bagless Kirby device.

You can't own a Rolls Royce and expect to pay Kia prices for parts lol.

Colby it's just like my office manager had to buy a Mercedes because I own 3 well she balked at having to put premium gas in it and chose to use regular instead . After a year
of ownership her check engine light was on all the time and she destroyed
it just to save .10 cents a gallon . She now drives a Hyundai and can use regular gas
I told her that's a great choice .

If the Kirby bags are too expensive then it should be sold and buy
a more affordable vacuum . Reusing bags is a terrible idea it will ultimately
destroy the Kirby .

Instead of buying HEPA bags, put a G3 - Sentria bag head on it and then buy the 9-pack of Genuine Brown Paper Bags for the G4 and G5. Its $10 for a pack of 9 on Amazon.

It always cracks me up to see people putting in regular gas in a vehicle that "requires" or "recommends" premium, it's suggested for a reason it's not like the manufacturer is in cahoots with the gas companies. Mmmm I could go on all day about people like that, it's all about the show, they are just ghetto hood rats lol who go to auto stores to get parts for their mercedes bmw audis.

The only reason I asked in the first place is because the white hepa bags are so durable in comparison to the paper. I assumed it may last one emptying. I am going to try and let you all know.

On a side note, we used a CMS 1000 amway vacuum for years, and when I got this Heritage II, the suction is like 2x stronger. Maybe the bags will not fill so fast once I get the ground in dirt out that the CMS was missing all these years.

That is so true you took the words right outta my mouth .

I only use genuine parts in my Mercedes and a Mercedes
master tech is the only mechanic that touches my car .
If I couldn't afford it I'd buy a cheaper car same with my
vacuums GENUINE parts only and I would NEVER reuse
a bag . That will kill a machine as the bags are called disposable
for a reason .

Does anyone recommend the Keeler's Kirby bagless conversion kit?  How will a Kirby perform with the bagless conversion kit?

Short and Sweet...

Question 1: No. Question 2: Awful.

Kill / destroy a vacuum by reusing bags? Hardly. Dust bomb the inside of the outer bag should it rupture, yes. Good news is the amount they are filling is decreasing, so the other CMS 1000 must not have been doing an adequate job. Its amazing what the Kirby / royals will do with ancient technology, yet the new plastic crap is about 50% as powerful with 2x or 3x the amps.
