OMG, what a beauty, look at that shiny new plastic!!! I bet the handle is far from loose, and it has that "new vacuum smell" to it as well! Approximately how old is this model?

It's amazing to see the quality of that machine alongside the mierda they're producing now. With the exception of the new Constellation, of course.

Wow.

Beautiful, simply beautiful...

What's the story with the DAM? How did it survive not being sold for so many years?

Blimey..........

Me thinks that could make a pretty good addition to the owners retirement fund if they did ever decide to sell it on Ebay lol!!!- Im guessing 1975ish???????

Dial, Dial, Dial...

I think that was one of the last Dial A Matics, followed by the yellow U5015--which was the final non self-propelled model.

I know that one isn't too common... Tom Anderson's mom got one new for christmas, in maybe 1976, I want to say...?!?

Such a pretty machine!

Relative value....

I think I remember someone (Jeff maybe?) saying a DAM new in the late 70s was nearly $200!!. Wonder what that would be equal to today- 4 figures maybe???. Also whats the betting if that one or one like it did ever make it onto Ebay it would be the wrong side of $500- more maybe!!!

WOW! I love the color of this machine...my mom got one brand new for Christmas in 1977. I still have it but it has been well used. I remember this machine and being only 5 years old and the handle not put on the machine, I thought it was for me! Mom got the tool set too. My mom loved her DAM for many years. She was going to throw it away and I asked her for it. I restored mine with a new body (the handle had broken) and gave it an original cord. I have pictures of our DAM on Christmas morning. I wish the box in the background was still with us. Mom never saved stuff like that!

The U5017 was introduced in 1975 and went to the end of the DAM production. I want to say that this DAM was under $100 without tools. This model particularly was the cheap model. The bottom plate only had a cover for the belt not the hose. It may have had a shorter cord too.

Anyway...great pictures! This seems to be a difficult model to find for some reason. Mom's is well over 200,000 on its serial number. I know that they made a lot of them. I tend to see tons of its sister cleaners the gold U5015.
