Kirby Classic III - Misaligned Rug Guard?

I've finally taken a close-up pic of my Kirby Classic III rug nozzle's bottom, so that you folks might be able to determine if the rug guard is out of alignment which itself may be why the ball-bearing brush roll I also have may be creating so much unwanted noise. But right now the original sleeve-bearing single-bristle roll is installed.

What I do know is one of the rug guard hinges is broken.

The old rug guard is gone, because I knew it gave me so much trouble, so the one you see is brand new (I ordered it from Kent Oyler's Kirby Needs e-store).

Here is the back view of the rug nozzle. The right rug plate hinge is the broken one.

I meant to say that it is in fact the left rug plate hinge on the nozzle casting is broken, not the right one.
