Hi All,

I'm new here. Been collecting machines for years. Looking to expand my collection, and possibly use the Electrolux floor polisher for my wood floors. I see them on ebay, but they are somewhat incomplete and pricy. Any suggestions? Do they work well or just for show? Thanks!

Work well...

 Would be an understatement,they are in my opinion, the best household floor machine ever made, anything you do with one will be done better, just a superior product.

Thanks for the feedback. What is the going price for one? I posted a link to one but it seemed pricy and not too complete no tank etc.

I purchased mine from Craigslist for around $20 about a year ago--don't remember the exact amount.

It came with the nap lifters, brushes, splash guard, shampoo reservoir, scrubbing and polishing pads. However, it's a B-8 and doesn't have a cord winder. Actually, it's the teal color of the model on your eBay link.

Electrolux polisher---pricey??

 The gold B-8 looks good and will typicly have 'low milage' and be good for years to come.It is always great to find a $20 bargain as above or hope for one for $5 at a neighborhood yard sale but if you check the price of the 3 brushes alone you will see this is reasonable.The brushes as well as machine are a better quality and with care the brushes will last many years.Wear would come mostly from scrubbing rough concrete floors/patios or improper storage.As above both B-8 & B-9 styles are THE BEST but some prefer the simpler B-8.--(The missing tank would not be needed for hard floors.)

Thanks for all the feedback. I prefer older machines as they are built so much better. I get way more fun out of vacuuming/polishing with vintage equipment!

The Floor pro

 model that is sold now is the same quality as when they came out as the B-9 in October 1984. The B-8 is also sturdy. The problem is when people don't take the brushes off and don't set them in the tray the brushes flatten and they lose effectiveness.
I have used the B-8 and B-9 ( B-10 ,Floor Pro) cleaning carpets, tile floors, wood floors as a business and found them to be very reliable.
If someone gets nap lifters with a B-8 don't use them. They can damage your unit. The same for Shampoo and Hard Brushes.

The

 company made the brushes so they could come off easily by giving a tug from left to right on the brush or nap lifter and off it comes. The B-8 has a different set up where you push the brush on and have to pull them off. The company also said the bearing could have premature wear and might have a hard time removing the brushes. Wear on the bottom plate as well.

So you're saying the nap lifters were made for the later machines (B-9 and after)?

I'm still unsure what you mean by 'hard' brushes. How does one tell B-8 brushes from B-9 and later brushes?

Har brushes

 are more commonly known as scrub brushes used on hardwood, tile, terrazzo, and other floor covering that is not carpet. Carpets have the black soft bristle brush used on them.

shampoo/polisher brushes

 Good information above.Scrubbing pads & soft polishing pads can also be used on either hard floor brush depending on the floor type and job.The B-9 style brushes that rotate for easy release have a tall white plastic collar on top.Nap lifters were B-9 and newer.No B-9 brush should be used on B-8!Further back I think B-8 brush can be used on B-7 but B-7 can not be used on B-8.And the previous B-6 was completely different.--The simple fact is the 3 brush Elux shampoo/polisher is best ever.

I noticed my brushes on my model 1522 had no tall collar. does this mean they were meant for like for my b8 s such as the units I purchased at a later time. also, I actually purchased my second b8  because of between a good tank and cap( my local aerus dealer don't sell just the tank cap) and and some other accessories I could use on one.
