My first impression of this machine when I saw and used it at the Dr.'s office which it came from was it was just an old widepath Sanitaire, but after close examination now that it's mine I am intrigued to know more about it. What I didn't notice till now is that it has a much different shaped hood than any modern Sanitaire, and I don't recall ever seeing a Sanitaire with one like it. The other troubling factor is no model sticker. According my vac store buddy, he thought it was supposed to have a VG1, but it is very possible that it was replaced with a VGII during a tuneup, which I know it has had several. It really could use a new bag, the plastic guard has ripped off and the inner dirt director cloth tube is ripping at the base, but it cleaned up nicely for now.

I hope I posted this in the right section, I am under the impression it is 20+ years old, the office manager said it was there before she came 19 years ago.

If memory serves me right I think that was the Eureka Sampson, it was Eureka's labeled wide track.

Indeed, Eureka used this odd hood design for a few years on some basic bottom of the line Dial-A-Nap uprights. Probably late 70's up to mid 1980's. In Canada we saw quite a few Eureka-made department store models (Eaton Viking, Beaumark from The Bay) sporting this odd style of hood.

This is the first time I see it on a Wide Trak Sanitaire though!

Brian (eurekaprince),

Yes, the hood is not a Samson hood because it clearly says "Heavy Duty" on it.
