19 years old, not quite vintage yet!

First issue, the hosewas split.

However, unlike its more modular predecessor, the whole thing doesnt strip down nicely and re-thread on, its all one moulded thing. So the hose is glued into the machine end, with some tape around it slightly for added measure. Anyone know if you can get the machine ends for these still?

Anyway, it was very dusty so I got to work

The accountants had obviously stolen the lint pickers by this stage

Although, what's this?

Anyone got a nicer version of this for sale?!

One of the tabs has broken off the tray too sadly

Had no smell at all anymore! Surprised it lasted so long though without being binned!

I'm sure I;ve got some compact/aria filters somewhere. Hope so!

This is a shame. The whole thing is sealed and currently stuck fast with fluff. Hoping getting it wet and putting another vac to the tiny hole gets it out

Undid the screws and the motor housing came off

Happy to see the power outlet still featured this late on!

From Hoover Compact S3708

I couldnt get the rear wheels off though, looked like it would break if I kept trying so left them be

So all unpicked, and waiting to be washed.

From Hoover Compact S3708

Screw card has never been so empty! All just clips together!
The palstic extension poles were both cracked at the top too. One is glued up, I'l clean that off and work out the best finish to hide the glue mark, and do the other pipe. Floor tool is almost mint! Haven't actually touched that yet. Will give it a tickle later, but it doesnt need to be washed at all.

the only issue with that one

is that it just doesn't tell you how many watts it is

All washed!

Wheel on with a bit of grease around the rubbing parts

I then gave it a blast with some finishing polish and the rotary

The camera couldn't focus on the compact in the last shot, kept going for the ladder on the wall! Bit of wax when it's all finished and it'll look mint!

I then needed to go filter hunting. The black post motor 'filter' literally disintegrated and washed down the plughole when I put the shower on it. So I had a rootle around and found these

Cheers mate! It's a shame the extension tubes and hose are broken, would be lovely otherwise!

I put the top cover and latch back on

From Hoover Compact S3708

Then I whizzed over it with the rotary

From Hoover Compact S3708

Better, but it'll never be perfect

From Hoover Compact S3708

From Hoover Compact S3708

From Hoover Compact S3708

This still doesnt work either

Tools back in

From Hoover Compact S3708

The hose is holding up well now the glue has dried. Looks better than before anyway!

From Hoover Compact S3708

The extension tubes. I've already had a go at the top one, and it came out alright. So lets look at the bottom one

From Hoover Compact S3708

buggar, it's much worse!

From Hoover Compact S3708

At 1.5 degrees c, the glue was having a hard time holding, so Ihelped it with some temporary tape

From Hoover Compact S3708

From Hoover Compact S3708

tensioned it up quite well. Bought it inside to go off overnight

The top one after some finishing on the join

From Hoover Compact S3708

I'll probably not use these as I doubt their strong at all! Will either rob some metal poles from somewhere or just use another compacts toolkit for proper use

Having access to a 32mm contour head will come in handy though!

From Hoover Compact S3708

From Hoover Compact S3708

From Hoover Compact S3708

I dusted everything down, used my little wire brush to clean up the bristles, greased all the pivots and re-assembled it

From Hoover Compact S3708

All back in the box and awaiting final pictures and a good run round, before being boxed up and stored, as I have run out of room!

Before

After

Not much of a difference looking at those but I took them so up they went!

Beautiful job! Reminds me of the Hoover Spirit we had here in the states, the shape anyway.
