I took my Hoover U4003 brush roll off today to change the belt which keeps snapping.Is there supposed to be a metal piece on both ends of the agitator? Mine has it only on one side. I do not have a book with it, so I am stumped. | ||

Do you mean the metal spring like mechanism on the end? I believe that is only on the one end.
You should have 2 metal screw on end caps, with a bearing, washer and clip on each end. For belts snapping I would check to see you're using Genuine Hoover Convertible/ Decade 48 belts otherwise known as 49258AG. Ensure brush roll rotates smoothly- no rubbing, no sticking. Hoover Yes their should be or plastic round covers on both ends . Belt should not be breaking either. good luck Doug | ||
