I read somewhere that James Dyson was never happy with the performance of this machine, so he would not allow it to go one sale.

and when I got a few of my dysons serviced the guy told me on his induction they went on a tour and he saw them in white coats testing it out and it kept getting stuck in the door, plus they would of been very expensive to buy and produce, they were also very heavy.

Here's James Dyson talking about the DC06.

Dyson claims they'll release one eventually!

Years ago, I was told by a Dyson customer care representative, that the DC06 only lasted about 10 mins before needing the batteries recharged.

This might well be true: the DC06 apparently had a brushless switched-reluctance motor, no doubt an early version of the Digital Motor.

And if you take this train of thought further: remember the poor battery life of the later Dyson Cordless models. The DC06 motor would probably be even more power hungry at that time.

I was also told that a few wealthy Japanese businessmen might have bought the odd one.

We heard from a guy at Dyson that Roomba overtook them with the technology and they were not able to compete back then.

Now would be different though. I agree Dyson should release one, then we could sell our Roomba at home!
