Hi, I'm simply trying to obtain the part no. for a replacement brush roller for my 35 year old Royal upright model 880 vacuum. Or an aftermarket replacement. The Royal manufacturer could only come up with the belt part no. (104426001) - thanks in advance for any assistance.

The belt part number is actually: 1044260001. Do not use the knurled belt 1672260001.

The brush roll that you want is either part #2059721000 or, if you favor a double-bristle roll, ask for part #2675221000.

BTW... how old is your 880? If it has a 3 amp motor your cleaner would date from 1975-80, if 4.5 amps then 1980-85, and if 5.4 amps then 1985-87.

Mary,

I just found out you said your Royal is 35 years old... so that would make yours a 1978 model.

The correct brush roll is, again, part no. 2059721000 for your machine.

Royal Brush Roller PN.

Thanks, Ben. I was approximating on the 35 years, but it is a 4.5 motor so I guess it does put it in the post-'80 time period. I haven't been successful finding a source for a replacement yet, but will continue on searching. If you have a source to recommend, I'd appreciate it. I would be happy just to find a use brush roller so I could get this bugger up and running. I have an Email into Starks Vacuum down your way but have not gotten anything back, so I plan to call them. I used to live in Portland up until a couple years ago and bought bags and a replacement belt from them.

Mary,

My 1985 Royal 880, branded for sale to Stark's, has a 4.5 amp motor as well. However, if your machine has this motor size *plus* an angular-looking fan case (rather than the all-rounded one), your cleaner would've been made from late March to early May 1985.

This is a picture of my two Stark-branded Royals. The one on the left has a 6-amp motor and angular fan case (it was built in 1987).

Royal Stark

My machine is exactly like your one on the right - even has the 'Stark' blue bag as well. I haven't had a chance to call them - probably wait until after New Years when things get back to normal in the stores, etc.
