Finally I have the complete Electrolux Elux O Matic 88 set with a big thanks to Dave and Doug for supplying me missing attachments and wands. As well this morning I happened across the matching Electrolux 3 brush floor polisher with solution tank. I already have the same floor polisher sans tank. Now I'm sure there's probably an attachment I'm missing but for now it's complete with all the basics.. and note the two crevice tools are different lengths ? I love this vac, it's library quiet as well like the 89. These to my knowledge never had a power nozzle, at least there is no plug in on the handle as on the 89.

PS that clump of dog fur on the carpet now resides inside the vac.

Oh and I almost forgot. See that carpet under the table. I stole that at the Restore for $50. I couldn't believe my luck when I saw it there, it had just come in and they weren't sure if it was wool or nylon etc.. I know my Chinese carpets, whats high quality and what's not, so I grabbed it quick LOL

Hi, the later 88 did have a power nozzle - cord strapped around hose and attached to plug into end of handle as with 89.

My 88 also doesn't have a handle power socket but the 86 does.

The hose is original and 9.85 out of 10 condition LOL

I hadn't realized Dave had brought me two sets of wands so last night I coupled four together and spent a bit of time with the dusting brush getting at all those nasty cobwebs that were previously unreachable way up there on the cathedral ceiling in the livingroom and along the 3/4 height wall that separates the livingroom from the kitchen and diningroom. No more ladders yay.

Hi Pete:

You're correct. That version of the 88 didnt have the power head. It didnt come out till the 88 with bumpers was out. It was possible to buy the handle with the plug for that machine and retrofit it though. I noticed you have the newer rug nozzle with it (spring clip connection instead of friction fit) - remind me when Dave's down here next month and I'll send the proper one back with him for you.

Mike,

I have the same grenade shaped tool for my Lux 89. It is de-mother - you add moth crystals to it, attach one end to the hose (with the hose attached to the blower end of the vac) and then place the hose in a closet. The other end of the tool has a fine screen so that air passes thru but not the moth crystals.

Speaking of moths does anyone actually have any problems with them anymore? I certainly remember them being a problem growing up in the 50's early 60's and mom had mothballs hanging in the closets. Now nothing. Oh and at Christmas she'd always make up a jar of those "dancing mothballs". I forget exactly the recipe, it's on the internet, where you fill the jar with water and possibly vinegar or something and the mothballs float up and down in the jar like a lava lamp.
