I've been using the Riccar lately and it's been a while since it's been fired up.

Here's all the vacuums I have at the house at the moment

Two Hoovers, A Fantom, A Regina, A Kirby, A Riccar, A Filter Queen, and Two Compacts/Tristars

Do I notice the headlight cap has a lock on it? If yes, then this Tradition may have had the speed switch just inside of the headlight cap.

Mine doesn't have the lock on the headlight cap.

That's a very nice collection!! With all of those Hoovers, the Filter Queen and the Tristar I can understand why the Kirby has been neglected. I love those Rotomatic style power nozzles. If they had wheels in the front they'd be a lot more maneuverable though. Front wheels, coupled with a brush roll on off switch and they'd be manueverable on hard floors every once in a while.
