So people always say to me 'whats the best 3 in 1 cleaner' i always say the numatic george
1 because its a very durable product- based on numatic cleantec range 2 because its made in the uk not china 3 because it comes with two hoses one being the solution tube attached 4 has a more powerful pump So now on the the vax I would not buy this because... Very cheaply made poor quality Not very powerful pump Only comes with one hose and the solution tube is not attached The filter are paper Thats just my opinion please feel free to share you thoughts Thanks | ||

I agree. The Vax is an OKAY machine but not a patch on the George. I have a George and its a great machine | ||

Sorry - I was an owner of a Vax Powa wet and dry 3 in 1 canister for 15 years. Mind you, it was a heavy BRITISH made one so it might have something to do with it.
Please don't tarnish every Vax canister tub - the latest ones may be lighter but the heavy orange 101/121 based series are worthy of keeping - and many do - including the Rapide versions with variable suction control. One has to remember though that since TTI have taken over Vax and basically handed over the Dirt Devil based carpet washers that Vax sold with their own name well before TTI took over Vax, that the company began to produce cheaper components for the old tubs. Simply put it was obvious that Vax wanted to concentrate more on their carpet washer uprights - something Numatic have yet to offer. | ||

Agree with Sebofan, the older UK made Vax canisters were almost bulletproof. Any of the later Chinese made ones I've used have been disappointing, however.
Vax never was a particularly quiet machine (bypass motors always tend to be louder), but the current models are absolutely deafening. Maybe not so bad if you only use it occasionally for shampooing carpets and cleaning out the car, but for an everyday vacuum it's way too loud for my tastes. Variable power models are better in that you can at least dial the noise down a little. I'm also not keen on the later style wash head and fluid tubing. It just screams "cheap" to me and I find it awkward to use. The older trigger system was far more intuitive, particularly the type introduced with the Vax 2000. I think given the choice of the two, George is better in pretty much every respect. Far higher quality machine and tools, not excessively noisy as far as wet vacs go, and it comes with two hoses so you can switch back and forth between wet and dry cleaning more easily. For what you get it's much better value than the Vax. | ||

Agreed, Spiraclean - the wash heads on the newer Vax tubs are very light - one reason to why the original wet/static fixed suction acrylic head is so difficult to find. I think Vax have tried to inject a little improvement with the latest "Spin Scrub" floor head, but I much prefer the older acrylic heads and the old trigger system.
As a dry dirt only vacuum, the Vax is terrific in large homes, but only if you leave the vacuum in the lower suction settings, otherwise the bags are liable to burst - a problem that happens in the high fixed suction machines. I used to use a fabric bag in mine. | ||
