Some detail on the ESP

Think it lived on the bottom of a closet for a long time because the bag is like new...

Back of the ESP"s outer bag

Back when F&G was the only bag for a machine like this and "Genuine Eureka" meant something!

Hope it's still true...

haven't tested the self propel aspect on this one. The Hoover drives like it should.

And now the Hoover PowerMAX!

...seems to be the TOL model after the Concept Series. Probably making this an 80's vac.

One more...

I think this vacuum, like the ESP above, became too heavy for an elderly couple & sat in a closet getting scratched up but not used & an Oreck or similar became their daily driver. I was told it was acquired from heirs in an Estate sale.

About these two vacuums...

The Eureka ESP upright you've got is either a model 5071A or 5071B and likely dates from c. 1980-1983.

The Hoover PowerMAX upright, on the other hand, is a hi-tech version of the Concept One with advanced electronic controls, and would date from c. 1990-1993.

I know my Eureka its dated from stamps on the fan housing. Pointers that look like clock hands

That Eureka being from 1985, was probably one of the last to wear the old-style logo from the Eureka-Williams days (1968-74).

The 5071E was likely the first variation to use the Helvetica logo.
