I was recently contacted via my website by a guy who wanted help identifying the motor shown below. I have no idea what it belongs to - can anyone help? Thanks!

Looks like a Royal to me.

But then, most 1930s uprights had motors like that :P mostly American ones..

Hi Jack, am assuming its a US motor??but that carpet looks rather like a UK BMK classic??

If the motor fits vertical, I would say a Sturtevant or a Richmond, failing that, could it be the one that had 2 nozzles on the front but no revolving brushes??

If it fits horizontal I would say Premier or GE, any more clues as to how it sits??

Mike

Hi Mike - I'm assuming the guy is American, but I'll email him and make sure. I'm afraid he didn't send any further info on the motor, just asked if I could help him identify it.

I thought it looked a bit like the one which goes on that strange Royal(?) polisher Charlie Lester took a photo of - I hope he won't mind me re-posting it here - it would explain the large round ending to the spindle, and lack of a fan, perhaps:

Anyone?

Agree? Disagree? Could it be from a polisher?

must have missed the polisher thread, looks a little weird thingy, you could be right Jack, with that round spindle...I see it makes contact with the buffer wheel, at first i thought it was belt drive.
