Well here is the bulk of my collection. I plan to tinker with these, mainly polish them, as they all work just fine. I do need to locate a bag brace for the Hoover 750 second from the end.

Bag brace

Is this the one you need?

No, it's the spring loaded brace that connects to the top of the bag. I never understood the concept behind it, but that's what I often see on these cleaners. The bag itself has three hoops, and the two hoops at the ends are connected to the brace. Maybe someone here can shed some light on the reason behind this.

Hi, what a great collection of Senior Statesmen!

About the Hoover bag tops: As Stan Kann explained to me one time, the reason Hoover designers came up with what they called a spreader-top bag was to keep the back of the bag from dragging across the floor when the bag was empty -- the spring-loaded "scissor-like" halves of the top part was kept fully open and thus kept the bag off of the floor.

As the bag filled with dirt, the weight of the dirt would put tension onto the spring-loaded top and would gradually pull the two sides of the "scissors" closer together. This would allow the bag to hang lower without dragging on the floor because of the dirt inside, and at the same time would prevent strain from building up against the top of the bag.

I see! Thank you Electrolux 137, I will admit, that desgin had puzzled me for a long time. I keep an eye out on eBay for one to pop up, as well as a bag. Incidentally, what would the original bag for the 750 look like? The one I have on it is black, and with orange letters says; "The H Cleaner". I'll upload a picture of it.

This is the bag on the Hoover model 750. Not sure if this is the right one for it...

Not quite...

It looks like this. But I spoke to a friend today, and he said for a model 750, they would have stopped using this...
