I think that my favorite style of vacuum cleaner is a handheld. They're fun to use, usually pretty quiet, and they come in so many different styles.

What is your favorite style? Upright? Canister? Handheld? Or something completely unusual? Discuss. :)

I'm a big fan of canisters, though of late all my significant finds have been uprights.

All kinds of Kirbys and Royals around... Great as those are, couldn't I find an Air-Way, Electrolux or Silver King kicking around in the thrift shops?

It depends on what I'm doing. If I'm just going to vacuum the carpets I'll use an upright. If I'm doing floors, upholstery, curtains, etc...., then I'll use the Filter Queen canister with all of it's fun filled attachment.

No real "favorite" If so has to be one of my NSS M1's but otherwise--Kirby uprights for the carpets, next upright is metal Royals-then Riccar Radiance. For canisters, present daily driver-Nilfisk GS90.Next would be any of my Miele cansiters, and my Sebo D4,C3, or K3 cansiters. For the big nasty bulky pickups-a Tornado "Task Force" wet-dy vac with ext filter.NO CLOGGING on fine dust.Use the M1 to vacuum out the Tornado filter bag.

Canister

All the way, not tanks or uprights!

I agree with Hans. My mother had a Rainbow, and I'm still partial to them. Constant suction, no dust, quiet, and durable.

Power Nozzle canister

I grew up with them and have worked with them on a regular basis. Whether its wall to wall carpet or a mixture, a power nozzle canister is my preference!!
