I was wondering if anyone can identify the following 2 models from the 80's?

The first one was when i was in school it was either blue or green it looked like a plastic garbage bin on its side and looked like just over a metre in length?

the other one was in a resturant was about 40 to 50cm high was blue and white with 360 degree swivel hose and caddy tray on top and the floor brush on one side was for hard floors then if you fliped it over it would be for carpets 9 (flip top of brush over to have it facing the bottom and vice versa)

Hi Matt:

I'm not sure what the first one would be but the second should be an Electrolux Z74 similar to the one on this brochure

Hi Matt,

I remember both of these cleaners clearly - however do you think I can find a pic of the first one you speak of?? Not a chance! However there was one listed on ebay a few weeks back! Massive blue whale of a thing it was!

Very simple basic barrel cleaner with a cloth bag. I remember these from my school days!

The first one you recall (and if we're on the same page) I believe came in both green and blue. This link is to a different and much smaller make but it was very similar in shape and almost the size of a trash can.

I believe they were branded 'Electrolux' - but may have been manufactured by someone else. If I come across a pic I'll post it.

Cheers
Ste

I remember that massive cylinder!

My dad used to work for a couple (plane engineering) who lived in a massive house (in the UK). They had 2 of those big lux cylinders (although I cant remember if it was blue). All I remember is they were very big, very heavy and the floor tool was quite nice. The lady used to keep a little dish of mints in the top for when she used it.

They had a Hitachi stowaway too IIRC.
