I'm looking to purchase a decent wet/dry shop vac that is quiet. Does anyone own a quiet shop vac? Any recommendations? I'm looking for a medium size . Between $100- $150 |

There are some high end vacs that are quiet. Don't know much about them. I have to say though, I am rather impressed with the newer low-end Shop Vac brand ones. We had to buy a new one at work and it is really fairly quiet. Not nearly silent by any means, but it is quieter than the old Shop Vac we had and it was supposed to be a "Quiet Super Power" model, yet the new regular one is quieter. Granted the old one was at least ten years old though.

I too got very tired of ear-splitting, short lived shop-type vacuum cleaners.
The Oreck Commercial is quality in every way, but it did set me back about $600.00. However, I did have a muffler put on a previous (non-Oreck but popular brand) vacuum. I joked to the vacuum dealer about the noise. I said he should put a muffler on it. And he did! He had a vacuum-cleaner muffler in stock. It took the shrill off of the noise which did help somewhat. Added about $20 to the bill. That vacuum cleaner only lasted a few years whereupon it too took a dump. |

It's resonably quiet, just mediocre suction . |
