Few days ago I went outside London to pick up and ship a lot of 5 vacuum cleaners I had bought few time ago on internet....including an old HOOVER 262, originally listed by the owner as " probably repainted " as it was not in its usual brown-cream color scheme. I thought it was no problem and intended to repaint the machine in the future.
Incredibly, the Hoover actually has a different color scheme but ....everything seems to be absolutely authentic !!!! T The grey-hammerite paint is quite well kept ( few chips here and there and the rest is just common dirty ) and absolutely the only paint I found on the cleaner. There are no traces of any repaint and the color matches even in the most hidden parts underneath, interior, etc. Handle is dark grey and even the iron bag holder is in grey tone. The chassis clearly never had a the wrinkle-finish texture that was common for 262 and 160. The bag is a matching replacement. Some of you UK collectors have ever seen something like this ? |
