Any info on my Dyson? Age and how much it's worth. I was wondering if any other fellow vacuum collectors have a Dyson like this. I believe it's called the Allergy in the UK but the allergy here in US, is blue.

Nice! In those colours, that would be an Absolute+ over here, with a HEPA post motor filter.

It's not an early machine due to it having the revised carry handle. Before they added the reinforcing part underneath it they used to snap with annoying regularity!

Someone with more insight into american imports will be able to help more, sorry!

That is not very common or uncommon in the US I belueve, and on eBay US there is a brand new in box model of that exactly same thing!

It's the Allergy + and we have different allergy dysons like white DC14's, blue DC14's, DC07's, DC08's, blue and purple, purple and green, Red and purple is the lowreach+ Allergy

Heres mine:

Beko I think that double lock handle was standard in the US.

Ah interesting. Would that possibly point to it being a later model? Or did they get the beefed up handle before us?

I believe they got the beefed up one before us; in fact I am not sure if they ever had any other type. They do use the US as a test market.

The US models do have differing brushrolls, brushroll housings and sole plates too.

For the OP, we have three Allergy DC07 models here, the colour of yours and the blue/purple variant you mention and a red/purple variant called the Allergy "low reach tool".

I thought that the double lock handle was brought out later as a modification due to the constant problem of handle breakages which the DC07 was renowned for. It was a problem moreso on the older models which had the coloured cyclone tops and which became more and more brittle with age, hence they eventually snapped off. The later grey mouldings seemed more reliable and less brittle.

I always thought that, but American customers tell me they all have the double lock. Someone told me it was done there first to prevent Dyson being sued in the US in case a bin came off when carrying down the stairs.

Do any American members have this type of handle?

Ah yes - I might have guessed it would have had something to do with being sued. The Good old US of A - Litigation capital of the world.

I seem to recall that was the reason for the double lock. When the cleaner is picked up by the handle at the top of the bin, it prevents the user inadvertently thumbing the cyclone release button and sending the rest of the machine crashing down onto the floor, or worse.
