This was too good to miss out on Ebay, just 8 miles from me had to have a bid or two on it, and ended up winning it for just £47.
The seller said that it was in full working order, but that was not the case when I got it home, as it appeared that the tech drive wasn't working. I realised that the handle wasn't moving back and forth at the base, which looked to me like the tech drive slider had seized. On disassembly this was indeed the case, and a clean plus grease and the tech drive was working again.
It had been in the sellers garage and loft for several years, so the casing was fairly dull and tarnished, so I had to give it a little hand buffing with some metal polish. The bags that came with it were the original ones from when it was new, in early 1996, so it hasn't had a lot of use. The rubber on the rear wheels has seen better days though, and ideally it needs new rear wheels. Otherwise its in nice condition for an 18 year old Kirby.

Here's some before pics as it appeared on EBay

The head - close up. It was more tarnished in real life than this picture, and needed a fair bit of cutting back and buffing.

It took me a few hours to get it presentable again:

Its not a bad old Kirby for less than £50, and it works very well, so I am very pleased with it - I may well make it my downstairs workhorse for a bit.

Very nice Steve, I wish my G4 looked as good as that you've done a good job getting it looking the way it is.

Lol not a fan of Dyson's myself, my mother had one about ten year's ago not sure what model it was I don't know them that well, It didn't last more than 15 months the motor burned out lol.
I brought it for my mother who struggled with the Kirby's, at the time I didn't have a Generation series machine, and with her Arthritis she found the Heritages/Legends hard to push. Although she didn't need to do much hoovering with me around, and with several Kirby's in the house lol, I think she just wanted to keep on doing things so that's why I got her that Dyson.
