Well, tonight, Joe Kassock is stopping by for dinner. We'll finish the chicken Parmesan (I made 20 for the Monster Mash Bash), etc. It'll be nice to just sit and really talk and catch up on everything. We only live about 30 minutes apart. I speak w/ Rick B (California) weekly, as we ll as Tom, etc. Sometimes, Sam Geresti and Mike Gravelin, and Rob Shore check in too, as well an numerous emails. It's nice to have such a great little group on whom you can rely.
I really MUST get myself in gear now and ready the place for Christmas. There are TONS of things I can do myself. All I need is time, and MOTIVATION. Fred N and Tarantulas Arms might have been the 'boost'. Keep at it. I get so tired and a lot of times, depressed by it all.
But, tonight, good food, good fun,a good friend, too. This VCCC certainly has done it's job. I've mentioned this before. So many of us would have definitely NEVER met, had it not been for this group.
Sometimes, we just need to sit and talk, vent, laugh, scream.freely...about everything.

Just a dinner

Hi John,

For your Christmas gathering, use the recipe I sent you for the Farina cake.  It is absolutely delicious and very easy to make.

Also, it has a large yield for a large gathering.

One day, if time ever permits, I would enjoy attending one of your mini meets.  What a great way to meet like minded people.

Stay well,

Richard Mancuso

Thank you, so much for that recipe. I have EVERY intnention of making that cake. I ALSO promise to send you that ricotta cookie recipe. I also have to get a HOOVER hood out to a member, too. (Lots to do).

Richard, know that you are ALWAYS welcome here. It will be great to welcome you into this old place. We can bake... (my grandfather had a bakery, and taught us how to make wonderful things). My late mother was an excellent cook, as well. My sister is FAR BETTER than I am, and, that doesn't bother me at all, lol. You've always been terribly kind and gracious to me., and, I wish we lived closer, too. We'll just have to work on making a visit happen.
The house is built on top of an old cemetery. Things, "happen here", from time to time, ok ,, often..... Will that bother you? lolol

How nice it would have been.....

.... to be there with you and Joe.  Two of my favorite people!  Hoping to be able to come to Pittston in December, Good Lord willing.

Still on the mend and having some bit of difficulty with the pain involved and "flashbacks."   They come on unexpected and are terrorizing.  They did so many awful things to me when in ICU and surgeries!

Spending some time at the house in Florida to recuperate and rest.  Will be back in NY on the 14th.  Just in time for Thanksgiving!  Who knows what that will bring this year.

As always, looking forward to seeing you guys!

Keep in touch!  Much love to both of you (and the "furkids", too!)

Strange happenings in "The Palace"

Hi John,

Thank you for the invitation.  Hopefully, someday, we will meet.  I will be at your door with a 1952 Electrolux LX and my Miele Champagne vacuum cleaners.  Time to give the old house a real good cleaning. LOL!!!!!

By the way, mysterious happenings do not frighten me.  I worked for many years at an old mansion in Palm Beach, where the deceased Lady of the House was still in residence.  Her favorite perfume was Shalimar, and you could always tell when she was around by the faint scent of her perfume.  Mrs. communicated with me through dreams and was always behind me, giving me guidance.  The house was built in 1937, a designated landmark, and as you know - old homes sometimes have quirky plumbing and electric.  We would occasionally have strange leaks that no could find the source of, but me.  Mrs. would guide me to the problem.

She was a very friendly spirit and liked to play occasional  tricks on me.  However, when her husband and older son would get into one of their vicious arguments, we would start to experience electrical manifestations throughout the house.  It was her way of showing her displeasure.

We were interviewing for a new housekeeper some years ago.  This very qualified applicant came for an interview, when I opened the front door, she turned chalk white, said "I cannot work here.  You have a ghost" and ran down the driveway.   Mrs. obviously did not like her.

I could go on about the many incidents that occurred in the house and on the grounds of the estate.

John, I wish you the best.  Do not let the naysayers get you down.  You are a terrific gentleman.

Richard

And, YOU have been there for me, too. You know and UNDERSTAND the unbearable sorrow that has recently hit me, as well. (No, notthe nonsense in this forum, that's just bubblegum).
We are friends, through the good, the bad, and the ugly. As Rose Kennedy said after JFK's death,"Birds sing after the storm, why can't we?' And, we'll walk in the sun again.
John
