Here is a Sears catalog page from 1991 showing one of the first models of the Whispertone.
At this point, it was the TOL model and also had variable speed and a performance light. The main difference between the Whispertone and the other canisters was the plastic shell that the motor sat in. The Whispertone name was originally used on canister models in the 1960s. Toward the mid and late 1990s there were a few different models of Whispertone canisters, not just the TOL model. I'd say yours is from around 1994-95. My last Sears catalog is from 1993 and yours is not in there. Also yours has the older logo and the new Kenmore logo came around late 1995/early 1996. CLICK HERE TO GO TO fan-of-fans's LINK |

In the link is a photo of our hunter green Whispertone. It's from 1999 and was one of the last of this body style before the "jellybean" ones came out.
Also, some higher end models of Whispertone had the dirt sensor lights on that power nozzle. Not sure what years though. CLICK HERE TO GO TO fan-of-fans's LINK |
