Hi everyone!

So, I got this Hoover Turbopower Junior, model No U1426 from the local carboot sale for £10. I got it from the same women who sold me my 1998 DC04 Absolute +

It needs a clean,a new bag,a new belt, and maybe a new brushroll as the brushes feel softer than they should.

Anyway, enjoy the photos! :D

Sept 1996? Very nice though. They are loud though the late ones. New brushrolls are on eBay all the time, and a new belt will transform it!

Very nice! It just needs a clean up and some routine maintenance to bring it back to full working order.

Noise

I have to say I only found the models with the 650 watt motor to be the models where noise was much of an issue.

Unfortunately Sam, I don't think dating these Candy serial numbers is quite as straight forward as the old Hoover and Electrolux method. I've seen the old style rating plates on vacuums as new as 1996, so I'm guessing this one is from between 1997 and 1999.

The date on this is 9648, IE week 48 of 1996. It works with all modern hoover candy labels on vacs. My new Purepower label has 1325 as the date code, ie week 25 2013. Its quite easy really

I am sure that there will be some here that disagree with me as there usually is, but that's how I date the HooverCandy models, and its always been pretty accurate as far as I'm concerned

That sounds about right actually, thanks for the info! Will find a candy machine and check its tag now! I know mu U1426 was sold in 1995, U1436 in 1996 according to the sales receipts.

It might be from 96 Sam, but i'm not sure, as I don't know how to date this machine. I tested it earlier and it works, it's not to loud actually! :)

Been looking on ebay, found bags and belts which I will get when funds allow but no brushrolls?

I used to see a 'maintanance kit' sold my someone, was a fan, belt and brushroll for £10 I think, will have a look later and see if its still listed.

I have a spare brushroll you can have, but it could be better or worse than yours! Worked well enough on my TP Total system, and that had little use in its life. Replaced it with a NOS one I bought and kept it spare.

Well are the bristles on the TP Juniors' brushroll meant to be soft? (Also, do you have any belts for a TP Junior Sam?)

That's strange you should say that post-1995 Hoovers had Candy stickers Chris, as my 1999 Hoover Turbopower 2 had a Hoover sticker.
