I've seen a lot of posts on swivel tops but have not seen a lot of pics of this particular model which I own. It is different in that the power switch is the round button above the blower port. Is it more rare than the others? Can anyone tell me its approximate year of manufacture? How many different models of swivel tops did GE make? Although the hose in the pic was original and looks great, it leaked like a sieve and practically made the vac useless to use so I put on a new 7 foot hose and wow what a difference! I've started using the vac on a daily basis for cleaning up around the cat litter boxes and in the utility room. The carpet nozzle works pretty well for cleaning cat hair. Why did GE make the wands larger in diameter than other makes such as Eureka, Lux, etc.? I also have the original instruction manual.
Thanks, Gary |

I agree with you about the carpet nozzle. I have had a different model Swivel-top for a long time but hardly ever used it because it felt to me like it didn't have much suction. But after using it for a couple of weeks as a "daily driver," I discovered that what it DOES have is very good air flow and a very well designed rug nozzle. In particular, I couldn't believe how much pet hair that it groomed out of the large oriental rug in the living room! |

This can sometimes be greatly improved with a drop (not a spoonful!) of oil above and below shaft it swivels on. |
