The original motor started to burn out but someone kept using it until the carbon brush melted through the rear motor housing! (Part on left) The commutator is scarred and burned. So, I found a NOS motor online and put it in!

Glad to see it's running again. Everyone came out with similar machines when Hoover launcher the Elite in, wasn't it '88?

That's actually a Singer design, Bissell bought them out in the 1990s.

Some rivals to the Elite include:

SINGER- PowerAMP

BISSELL-PowerPARTNER

SEARS-KENMORE:PowerCenter

EUREKA-Bravo

WHITE-WESTING HOUSE: V.I.P

DIRT-DEVIL: Lite & Lite Deluxe

That's all I remember

How's the other machines turning out?

The lightomatic got a good bearing lube and is awaiting a new cord, got a polishing. The Kenmore and 825 Hoover got the same but the Kenmore could do with a new cord as well. The Sanyo needs a new fan still. All in all its pretty fun!
