It looks like there should be at least 10 people here this weekend for our mega meet. Sam Addison (Florida) will even be here! There are some cleaners here from the convention that will be going back with him. I'm sure a fun time will be had by all. It'll be nice to share nice fellowship with some great people again in this old place. I've been under unbearable stress lately. This will be a nice, welcomed diversion, I'm sure.
I just returned from my niece's wedding last Sat in Virginia Ggeorgetown)...was stunning. A bit behind (as usual), but I'll pull the place together once more. There are a few surprises in store. as well as a nice home cooked dinner.(I've lost 10 lbs, thank God) There won't be a cooked "ham" anywhere, however. An all-Italian dinner in an all Irish house. Stay tuned. |

Bill is staying over. Glad he's not afraid. It was hectic and fun. Many cleear dwellers have left the house.. The verb here is 'subtract'!!!!!!!!!
It was great to see eveyone. Sam mad a "Jewish" apple sauce cake. During the meet, Sam Geresti called as well as the 3rd from Greene , NY. So, there were 10 in attendance, plus 2 via phone, a total of 12! That's a lot of people. More photos will follow soon. |

.......... we had been able to be there. Recent surgeries have left us both unable to endure a 6 hour car trip. It looks as though all had a great time, a sure bet at John's house! Kevin and I are hoping for good weather and healing by December. I am walking quite well now and "enduring" physical therapy. There was so much damage done to my leg and the therapy is extremely painful. But - no pain, no gain --- or so they tell me when it seems unbearable. Leaving for some R & R time in Florida tonight. Hope the plane ride is not too painful! Got a direct flight so that should help. Kevin will come down on 11/11 and stay until the 22nd. I come home on the 14th. Care for the dog limits the amount of time we can be away from home together. Best wishes to all and keep the pictures coming!

John,
I wish I lived closer, it looks like you throw a great party!
When it comes to decorating, I am not creative. I would have never thought to use a Hoover Hood as a serving container.
It is amazing how much dirt that Filter Queen could find in a Hoover Household....scratching my head....perhaps....well......I won't pick on John tonight...LOL

Oh, Morgan, now we both KNOW that John was being generous with his dirt so the attendees would have something to show for their efforts! A Hoover household is always a clean household! |

A great time was enjoyed by all. John's Hoovers do a great job of taking care of the house. He has a lot of wool carpets in the house, and delicate oriental rugs aren't supposed to get done by a machine with height set all of the way down or an agitator brush with stiff bristles. The Dyson and the Shark have very stiff bristles which are more aggressive than is really meant for that style rug.
When my parents bought oriental rugs years ago we were told to only clean them with suction only. We used to leave the power nozzles unplugged whenever doing rugs. However, sometimes with animals that task gets hard. We'd occasionally plug in the power nozzle on the canister but push it VERY fast just one pass over the rug so that the brush was just barely sitting on any particular spot for any near length of time. As the Dyson and Shark dirt cups kept filling up with carpet fuzz-- as that's primarily what that was, it was dumped on a Hoover mat and then we played around with the bagless machines, cleaning that up and dumping back down again. FilterQueen kicked butt by being able to pick it all up, hold it all, and not clog or lose any power doing so! Yay, FilterQueen Majestic. I'm off to bed now. However on one last note: Congratulations and welcome to the FilterQueen Family Mark and JT! I know you'll thoroughly enjoy your brand new Majestic that we were able to get you a fantastic deal on! |

While I was preparing for the gathering, I eased up on the vacuuming as I realized cleaners would be running all weekend. The wool Chinese rug in the dinning room is only 2 yrs old. It molts every time it's cleaned. The red Karastan rug is 40 yrs old and still sheds, as do the others. When I saw the fibers, I thought the rugs would all be bald when they were all done. FEAR NOT!!!! Every rug on the first floor was thoroughly vacuumed with the proper equipment later..HOOVERS Pics will follow soon.
It was nice the see many cellar dwellers leave the place as well. As the prostitute said to the Navy, "There's more where that came from". Thanks, again for the Halloween treats, and the Jewish apple cake and the crystal cake plate. Know that you're all welcome here anytime. Matt, (NYC Writer) pleas try to come around Christmas, when Kevin and Greg can make it. Thanks again to everyone. Pics to follow tonight. This post was last edited 10/29/2013 at 14:00 |

As before, a very good time was indeed had by one and all. New friendships made, old bonds strengthened and treasured. Couldn't ask for anything better than that!
Bill W.
P.S.: Sorry but I won't be able to make Xmas. I try to keep that and Thanksgiving to my family while my Mom is still alive if at all possible. I am, however, looking forward to the next post-holidays gathering -- and I DO hope that maybe sometime we can arrange a gathering here in Buffalo! // // |

As always a very fun trip to John's with fine food and great friends! It was great to meet Sam and Bill and see some old friends as well. As an added bonus Rob stopped by Oneida and checked out Chris's vac store and got to experience a plethora of machines and a fun night was had by all.
Bill- count me in on a mini meet out in Buffalo as I'm about 3 hours away or so and have been wanting to take a trip out that way for some time now. I'm sure Chris and Mike would enjoy coming also. Take care everybody and happy vacuuming! Joel |

Morgan, Cleaning a month in advance of a MiniMeet!!! Half the fun of a MiniMeet is that you're better off not cleaning before one. I know this may sound terrible, but if the house is spotless then vacuum enthusiasts can't pick up any dirt with the vacuums present!! MiniMeets are such a great social time. You don't have to have a full house of guests to have fun. Just think of it as a small gathering of friends. Could be 3 people and still have fun. The importance is not environment but rather the gathering of people together and sharing knowledge, experiences or just socializing in general. If one is up to cooking they may do that. But food is also secondary. Going out on the town to a restaurant or ordering food in is of course always fun and so much easier on the host as this virtually eliminates clean up. Many people like to cook, but the clean up is the terror. It's your ball park you can do whatever you like!!
I live in a townhouse so having a MiniMeet doesn't work as well. Can't be making tons of noise all day long and definitely not till late. When I do get a house, I definitely plan on hosting one. For now, I thoroughly enjoy going to them though and am more than happy to help if I can. I always try to bring a few machines along to play with. I would love to bring food but traveling 3 hours makes me worry about how it will survive temperature and physical condition so I stocked up on all sorts of pretzels, chips, guacamole, tortilla chips, cheese and salsa dip, candy, etc. for the last one and we filled a whole bunch of Hoover Convertible hoods and bowls with snacks!!! It's a shame we forgot to cut up the cucumbers that I bought. They might have made nice dippers in the guacamole or a ranch dip!! Oh well, that just shows how into the vacuum fun we were!! Happy Vacuuming everyone! |

Yes, ALL in good fun. I CAN be a sport about the 'non-HOOVER species", lol. Fear not!! every inch of carpeting has been gone over carefully with a proper HOOVER machine. The R.I.P. was Mark's thing...... I merely went along. One does try to be courteuos, afterall.
10 epole create a lot of excitement. That is why the cats were in their 'apartment' until the last bit of time. It might have been just too much excitement. for them. I'm looking forward to the next gathering around the Christmas holidays. It will give me the incentive to finish more painting and decorating in a timely manner. |
