Picked up my first Convertible at the flea market last Saturday! I'm really surprised because that particular market has been going down hill. With a new belt and bag this thing really blew me away! It's amazing how well it cleaned and groomed the rug! I have been wanting a Convertible for a little bit now and for 15 bucks it was a deal, even though I wanted an older one. When I went through the motor I was again amazed, as it looked brand new. I love this thing and finally found a vacuum my wife likes! Anyway, here is a picture. Model # U4413

Motor

After a little clean up, it looks like new!

Motor inside

The commutator also looked wonderful! It could not have been used much and no sign of a ridge. I would say it will last me a good long while. The only thing that wasn't perfect is the musty smell in the bag. I wiped the vinyl pretty good but its still there. I guess I'll have to soak it in something. Does anybody have a good recipe for Hoover bag soup?

NICE vacuum!

These were the basic model, close to the end of Convertible.

You could soak the bag in regular laundry detergent, maybe add some Muleteam Borax.
Also, check: it seeme the top bolt in the handle is in backwards. You mustn't have that!!
Enjoy your Convertible.

Good eye!

That isn't a Hoover bolt in the top handle. The previous owner must have lost the original and stuck threaded rod in to sell. An appropriate replacement will find it's way to the Hoover soon. Thank you very much for your advice on cleaning the bag. I will try this tonight.
