Very nice indeed and one of my all time favourite cleaners! These weren't all that expensive to buy new, but were by far better than the Glider and Contour that ran alongside it. These were the last of the 500 style cleaners and ran from 91 - 95.

This is what else my Lux came with...

Rating sticker... Anyone know how to tell when this machine was made?

What is very interesting there is that the tools are in a box much older than the cleaner, suggesting that this 1070 is at least the second of it's kind which the owner had purchased. The success of the 500 range was such that many people I spoke to over the years had mentioned owning more than one as time progressed.

I know, the 500s i've heard good things about. But for now this Lux will do. I would like to know when this machine was made, the rating sticker may hold this clue. Can anyone tell me what year it was made in by the rating sticker? Not that familiar with luxs'

I love these uprights - I find them to be quite quiet - and I love the Electrolux styling.

Looking at the serial number, this is much later cleaner from 94/95 - you can't date that type of serial number unfortunately. Those came in with the ESP contours. So it's a later one.

Ah right. Think i'll just settle thinking it's a 94 one. But still, cheers! :D

If it has the original moulded plug (pre 1993 or so models did not have one fitted anyway) you may find a date stamp on the plug. Though this will not tell you anymore than when the lead & plug-top was assembled, you can of course be sure that your cleaner is no older than the date on the plug.

Could the date of manufacture not be the 449 part of the serial number? ie week 49 of 1994.

On my 560 the plate says 326, suggesting a manufacture date of week 26 1983 which is about right for that model.

On my Powerlite pet the serial number starts 1035, so maybe that suggests it was made in week 35 of 2010?

No. If you look at the serial number of your 560, there is a space between the 326 and the rest of the serial number. These are the ones that can be dated. In the early-mid 90's, Electrolux stopped using this method (as did Hoover with their serial numbers) and I don't think it is possible to date the machine from this style serial number.

It's an interesting idea though that the first 3 numbers still date it. We will have to test this theory with other machines from around that time as they crop up.

Yes you are right, there is a model number and the serial number on the 560 just says 3 26, and nothing else. I cant see anything stamped after the 3 26 as there is no more numbers in the serial number box.

I just looked at the moulded plug and there's a dial, with several numbers and an arrow. Either side of this arrow is '94' suggesting that this Lux was made in 1994, so not quite vintage but it will be next year! (Well it's vintage style, just look how similar it is to the 500s!)

Well done on thinking to check the plug. I too always suggest this when a lead is original to the cleaner. Great minds do think alike, as they say.

Indeed they do :) I love my Lux! The Swedes know how to make a good design. So far, I think a Turbpower 2 will have to wait. Make room for more Luxs'! :D

Just found this whilst searching.

My dolphin has the 3 numbers then the rest of the serial. Do I deduce that it was born on Week 47 in 1989? This would put it at mid november.
