I would like to use the new AquaMate with the Rainbow SE

Which modification should I do:

  • Modify the electrified hose handle
  • Replace the AquaMate cord with the one-piece cord (runs from AquaMate to Rainbow unit)
  • Use non-electrified hose & use two-piece cord (short cord from AquaMate to hose cord; & hose cord from wand cord to Rainbow)
  • Is there a wet pick-up approved electrified hose for the D4SE?

Scrubbing the tile floors wih the squeegee brush (stiffer bristles than the FloorMate SpinScrub) may be tough; but the dirty water picked up by the Rainbow is dirtier than the dirty water picked up by a FloorMate.

I don't think there is anyway to modify the SE electric hose. Even if you replace the handle, the electrified hose is not double insulated like the current electrified hose so you would probably get electrocuted. Not even sure if the other two are possible because of different connections.

How good does this AquaMate do on deep pile carpets & hard surface floors such as tile?  Does it perform better than an ordinary carpet Steam Vac or FloorMate?

I have it

and I think it did a great job on my carpets and super easy to use. I think it extracts better than a regular carpet washer like bissel or hoover......since it has more suction/airflow, plus it's obviously more light weight to push/pull......but overall, I would say it's about the same results, other than my carpets being left dryer using the Rainbow aquamate 3

forgot to mention I can't comment on tile.....I think the Rainjet is better suited for tile.

Will the AquaMate III work on stairs too?  I prefer to have a rotating brush scrub the carpeted stairs better than having to put elbow grease to scrub the dirty areas of the carpet.

AquaMate III

Or do I need to use the MiniJet or AquaMate I for stair carpets?

This is the cord I'm refering to so I can use the AquaMate III (AM-12) with the Rainbow SE

MiniJet

AquaMate I

I really like using the Rainbow SE for steam cleaning carpets & washing floors better than the Hoover Steam Vac or FloorMate

It would be very hard to use the aquamate II on the stairs unless the stairs are really wide. I have the minijet and it is a wonderful accessory. That cord will not work because the circled connection with not fit the SE power nozzle receptacle. I can tell you got those pics from rainvac.com so why don't you give them a call and see if it is possible to use the aquamate II with the SE.

I didn't see the machine end connector; I thought it would work on the SE.

Here are two other cords I've considered buying:

One-piece that runs from PN or AquaMate III to Rainbow unit

Or I could buy:

Hose cord

Wand cord

Or I was thinking about:

Conversion electrified hose (Converts PN-2E for use with D [D2, D3, D4 & D4SE] Series)

Electrified hose handle parts

I'm hoping any of the above modifications work well.

how about

just regular wet pick up hose and buy 8ft extension cord and strap it to wet pick up hose???? u need cut off some rubber at corners end of extension cord plug is to plug in the aquamate3. u save money instead buy handle wet pick up kit, tigger switch, tigger switch cover, tigger the one u press up to turn on power nozzle etc, the small wand. thats $36.00 for parts plus shipping.

Now I know the AquaMate 3 works with older Rainbow vacuums!

I just ordered an AquaMate 3; all I need to buy are the stainless steel PN wand & hose cord once the new AquaMate arrives

My AquaMate finally arrived today; but I'm waiting for the stainless steel power nozzle wand & hose cord to arrive. I can't wait to use my new AquaMate!

I tried it out today on white tile & it did great! The AquaMate 3 even removed black scuff marks that the mop or FloorMate couldn't get out; & those marks have been on the white tile for perhaps YEARS!

The tile looked greyish before I used the AquaMate; now its gleaming white

Looks good, but is that a blue Electrolux cord I see on your Rainbow's hose? You frankensteined your Rainbow! LOL

Just a little tip for anyone that wants to use normal carpet extraction shampoo in the Rainbow, ie. Rug Doctor, Bissell, Hoover etc. I have found that even when diluted properly per the instructions on the bottle, for some reason the Rainbow will make it foam like crazy when the water bowl is being used for the recovery tank. To solve this problem, I dilute the carpet extraction shampoo as directed on the bottle, BUT I add 1/2 cup of white vinegar to the recovery tank before starting to clean the carpets. Doing this cuts down on the foaming action & lets you fill the tank to capacity before needing to empty.

I put Rug Doctor Anti-Foam in the Rainbow water basin when shampooing carpets & washing bare floors

Erik, the Rug Doctor Anti-Foam does work too, but they just recently discontinued it. So, vinegar is the next best thing to work. And it was Rug Doctor that suggested it when I called & asked what to use.

Hmmm

mark40511's profile picture
I've had trouble with the Rainbow Green D&A foaming even though it's specifically made for rainbow. I may try to add that AND a little vinegar to see if it stops it from foaming.......

@ Floor-a-matic

You're using the Aquamate for bare floors only or carpets too?

Glad it's working for you

I will try the AquaMate on the "old-school" olive green shag later; but I'm using the chrome PN wand while I wait for the stainless wand to arrive
