On Monday I spent the evening in the home of our very own John Long (Gottahaveahoove). As always, the hospitality was worthy of Jackie Kennedy herself, the meal was sumptuous, and the conversations and cleaners were as always, fabulous.

Now for the photos! This thread is going to be a long one. Many photos were taken.

We start with the dinner, of course.

The appetizer course consisted of fresh fruit (peaches, watermelon, bananas) with a homemade glaze. As usual, there were pitchers of Pittston Hospital Iced Tea consumed!

Glad you both had a lot of fun!!! You certainly used a lot of vacuums again. The Quadraflex does groom quite well. Terrific photos. It really is neat to see doubles or quadruple of some of the machines.

Johns collection is amazing.

And, as far as those 'basements'...

gottahaveahoove's profile picture
I have to /need to reorganize things in them. EVERYTHING was disturbed in all 4 of them when the wiring was changed as well as all of the sewer pipes. Cracks were discovered in them. It was ALL replaced with PVC. The price you pay to live in a very old house.

That's quite interesting!

They're certainly not on top of one another, Are they?

How does that work out?

No, they're not "stacked".

gottahaveahoove's profile picture
Although the big one has a chamber below it... with a steel trap door.
2 are connected, the other 2 are connected. You can't get through all 4 together. It IS a bit strange. They all had "the bodies' in them at one time.

California. You WILL find: a Westinghouse, electrolux gold floor polisher/shampooer, 3 Kirbys, 2 Orecks, a FliterQueen, a Premier hand vac as well as a Royal Prince. These "cellar dwellers" are going, along w/ several HOOVERS that are not part of "the collection".
As far as the "bodies"...... can't guarantee that they are all really gone. Hmmmmmmmmmmm

We just rounded up a few of the 'table appliances". There's a rotisserie, toaster/broiler oven, waffle baker, can openers, heater, mixers, electric knives, fans, kettle, coffee pots, to name a few. A very LOYAL house of HOOVER, indeed.

That early hand mixer, I have one and love it,its about as overbuilt as anything could be, did they build it or was it made by some other company for Hoover???

hans, all of hoover's smalls except thier washers were made by other companies, blenders by oster and waring, mixers by GE or sunbeam, toasters by toastmaster, and coffee pots by procter silex. hoover was just the "private label" or exclusive to hoover

Knapp-Monarch made a lot, too. One odf their irons was exclusively made BY them. Mr. Dick Pike also told that, for example, the h eater was made "outside" until towards the end . Then some stuff was made right there on Maple Street.

At one time, HOOVER'S plan was to

gottahaveahoove's profile picture
make ALL types of appliances, thus, being the King of appliances. Later, they got rid of Knapp-Monarch and concentrated on floor care only. There was talk of taking over G.E. Imagine what would have happened.

You'll NEVER run fast enough, lol.
They remind me of SOMETHING, but NOT a 1070. I always liked the 1070, now, I have 5. I won't be keeping them all, however. More cellar dwellers are being readied for sale. I also have to send a few hoods out to people, as well.
It's nice to purge things, isn't it?
It's also great to see things go to people who really need/want/like them. I'm thrilled that Rick got that Electrolux 30...J? I'm not sure. I know there is a power nozzle ready to go as well.
Making room, clearing out, gifting, it's all good.

And Don't worry, I could never stay away from HOOVER.

If it makes you feel any better, I had a Kirby fail on me the other night!

I shampooed the ENTIRE living room, And then noticed the Heritage's belt on the Shampooer had slipped off, And hadn't scrubbed a thing (No wonder why no dirt was coming up!) A full tank of $10 Shampoo Wasted!

I hear a Decade 800 Calling...Alex,Alex please, Save me from this nasty old place!
